I read in the current Allegany county magazine that friendship is the birthplace of the Republican party. Ripon Wisconsin also claims this title, having founded the party with a meeting at the Little White Schoolhouse on March 20th, 1854. The building is a National Historic Lankmark. Does anyone have local history on Friendship's claim? Thanks
