This woman needs some serious mental help along with treatment for alcoholism. Anyone desperate enough to drink and drive with two young children in the vehicle is an obvious alcoholic. I hope her children are being cared for others in the mean time. There are likely other problems going on besides driving while intoxicated. Check her home and see how she is providing care to her children (is the house clean, etc.). She has a long road ahead of her. If she doesn't get serious about recovery, she might as well plan on others raising her children.

Why is this news? News print, television.....let's all make a big deal out of this case. Minnesota issues over 4,000 DUI tickets every year, but this is what the media chooses to focus on.

Sure, she was wrong, and sure, she has addiction problems, but there is nothing here that puts her in the category of evil.

She didn't stop her car because she knew she was caught and in trouble. The local police were put on camera and tried to play it up, but in the end admitted that she kept her speed below the limit...and eventually just pulled over.

That's because they consider children as second class citizens. Plain and simple.

Group therapy!

I truely feel sorry for these children and their certain doom! They are going to see Mom act like this and think this is normal. This is how the evil cycle starts and continues from generation to generation. Very sad!

" She didn't give a reason why she was drinking, and McCoy didn't know where she worked. "

I'm guessing she isn't working anywhere now! What a loser...take the kids and put them with adoptive parents, and they might have a chance to succeed. I doubt they have much chance with this moron.

It's news because DUIs simply don't happen in this manner all that often. It's unfortunate she made several bad decisions that afternoon. I concur with the first post made by Fed Up. I have more compassion than anger at this woman. She needs some serious help.

A loser without much hope for anything. Except possibly in the field of politics. She looks like a democratic candidate for the school board.

It is also interesting who the police arrest for DUI. I was following someone two years ago around Lake Minnetonka on Hwy. 15 and he was swerving all over the road. I thought for sure he I was going to see him kill someone. I called the police and followed the driver to his home. He only stopped the vehicle when it rolled into his garage door. The police show up and the guy is still passed out in his vehicle. They woke him up and helped him inside his house on the lake, then came over to me and told me he was just tired from a long flight. NO WAY! He was messed up for sure. Must have had some pull with the police. Or he was a cop. There is a double standard.

Yes, she needs help but COME ON. She's a 30 year old adult who knowingly has 2 small children in her car, then proceeds to drive like a maniac, and has prior offenses. Plus one wasn't buckled, there was pot in the back seat. I have compassion for those kids. THey don't deserve a mom like that. Yes, make her get help, we all deserve a second chance but this behavior is pathetic. Name something good this lady has done.

What? Are you serious? There are stories about various crimes all over the internet everyday, all this time? News is something reported about something that happened. Just because her story got picked to tell, doesn't make it special, it's just the one that was chosen. Nothing puts her in the category of evil?? She is 30, old enough to know better, she's a mom who had kids unrestrained in her car while driving under the influence, with pot in the car, she's had prior issues with driving. That's not mom of the year by any means.

Agreed. She has been on the front page for two days now. It seems the red star is able to find more interesting things for readers than the PP.

How selfish an irresponsible can one human be? These children are being set up to fail as adults, and one can only imagine the horrible life they live. I hope wherever these children end up that it's better than where they were.
WHAT A FAILURE THIS WOMEN IS TO HER CHILDREN. They are so young and only know to love her unconditionally. very sad for them.
