Having worked at both French Lick and Caesars, there is no doubt that French lick will eventually close. They have slots with payouts of 88%, when other casino's have payouts of 98%!!! As one of the vendors said while installing the slots "I guess they want to get all their money up front".

The IGC does make sure there is no tampering with the machines, but the casino sets the payout percentages.

If you want 'ambiance' go to French Lick. If you want to win once in a while, go ANYWHERE else.

At Caesars, we were given incentives (money) if we met certain goals, and were polite and friendly to the visitors. At French Lick, we were just happy to keep our jobs another day. Explains why the difference in 'percieved friendliness'.

Attendance peaked at opening because everyone wanted to check out the new casino. It tapered off as the newness wore off and people went elsewhere. Eventually, attendance will level off.

I knew that this experiment in French Lick would fail bigtime. As far as Casino Aztar in Evansville is concerned...at least we have a brand new 40-million dollar entertainment district with an all-purpose sports arena to come in the next couple of years! Sure, you've probably heard that the F-L casino has hurt revenues at Aztar but that's to be expected in the short term. The novelty is now wearing off up their in F-L...while Indiana's first-ever Casino is moving forward in an area that has seen 300 Million dollars in new investment over the past 10 years! And unlike F-L...if our boat ever goes belly-up..we have the Hotel, Pavilion, Entertainment District and revitalized Riverwalk that fronts the Ohio River! Come see us and you'll see! Coming in 2009...the Arena at RiversEdge!

I like French Lick Casino. It is a pretty building and the slots seem loose. I've played there at least a half dozen times since they have opened and have always enjoyed myself. The room set aside for holders of the amber card could have some type of refreshment besides M&M and peanuts, other than that, it's OK.

Don't count your chickens before they hatch. F-L hasn't been open long enough to establish a trend. WBSH just came on line, and that's a much nicer facility than any hotel in Evansville, probably the state. They can't move the casino at F-L, unlike the Riverboat at Evansville, and they have two historic and scenic hotels with serious history behind them. Give F-L some time and a good way to get there.

pennie slots. & to far away. We need a casino on the wabash river ..wake up gambling is here to stay
It's a Continental European style spring resort, not Vegas. In fact, it's the ANTI-Vegas. You can have Vegas for all I care.

I'm from french lick, the management really dose suck there and they have the whole town kinda backward now (as if it was even going in the right direction in the first place)...the cook group doesnt know how to run a casino! They run a pharmaceutical company! I mean that's like the exact opposite market...gambling and pharmaceuticals don't go hand and hand! It will finally be straitened out...it's kind of pretty down here, but not really the building going up is cheap and horrible looking! And the flooding problem has yet to be solved...they have literally poured money into that valley and it still looks horrible! Half that town needs to be bulldozed and rebuilt...it's just a huge backward mess, but what would you expect from the MIDWESTS "number one destination"?

Ryan, sounds like you have been fired from there and just want to bash the place. The Cook people have the resources to get the place on the right track, and don't forget it. Failure is not in their vocabulary.

I went last September and played close to 4 hrs with $20. That was on the Nickel slots. We do not go expecting to win big. We went simply to check the place out and pass some time. I myself think it is a nice place. A little cold on the boat, but other than that, the staff was friendly and we had no problems. We stayed overnight and the rooms were nice, compared to what they looked like before the renovation. We also went to West Baden and checked the inside of it out since they reopened. I was in awe looking at everything. It a very nice place. The only thing I didnt like was the shops inside West Baden. The Harley Davidson store waaay too pricey. I guess because the shirts had French lick on them and they thought everyone would want to buy one just for that reason. Not me. They said they have a real nice winery in that area also, and I plan on checking that out the next time we go. We rode the train a couple of years ago, and that was nice. The carriage rides were nice that took you around the grounds of French Lick. And I love the porch with all the rockers. The place is not booming with excitement, but if you want to just go and relax, then by all means, go to French Lick. I went to the spa and got a massage, and that was very nice. Everyone thinks all businesses like casinos should have action packed things going on all the time. That is what Vegas is there for. Just my opinion.
I like the fact that their boat is small.

You sound like you took money you didnt have to spend, and lost it. Everyone has an opinion, and I will leave it at that. We just went back up there a couple of weeks ago, and once again won $800 on a nickel machine. Then turned around and won $200 on a quarter machine. The new water park is opening up and cant wait to go see it also.
The place is growing and getting better all the time. A wise thing to do when going there. Take money that is not intended for bills. Then you wont be unhappy when you lose it. I dont care if I win or lose, because I take money that we have left over after the bills are paid. We enjoy the atmosphere and people, not just winning money.
