If you work or live in French Lick or the surrounding area spread the word about this wonderful medium ( Topix.com ).It is about time we have a VOICE!! Bloomington has NO idea of the treatment 99% of the employees/slaves endure EVERY SINGLE DAY and have since the opening of the property. The 1% are the "yes" people and they will and have been named already thanks to Topix.com allowing "average Joe's" to voice the concerns without having to go human resources and getting thier THROATS CUT - more later - I'VE JUST BEGAN!!! So far Joe V. has taken the hits(for good reason) what about Brian M. and his little team?

Unfortunately, this thread has turned so negative that I believe if anyone with some pull within the Cook group reads it they will believe it is the work of some of their undesirable employees. Who knows, it could be anybody with an axe to grind. I totally agree that Joe V. is completely worthless along with Brian M, Dale N and their overpaid old boy network. However, not every remaining manager is a "yes" man and there are still some valuable people in the resort and casino. However, they are certainly not as commonplace as they were before Joe Bozo started "cleaning house" to hire his cronies. I do agree... tell your friends about this post, let it get back to Carl and Steve. You shouldn't have to work under such poor leadership. Maybe something will eventually be done.

Yes, there are definitely some good employees left there but Joe V wouldnt keep them if they were strong enough to stand up to him...perhaps he hasnt had a reason to abuse them either so they havent had to stand up to him...or perhaps they just put up with it so they dont loose their jobs. Regardless, a lot of good employees are gone because of him. The fact that the Cook Group puts up with him and his unfair practices has put a bad taste in my mouth for them as well. Joe V and his boys club need to be gone.

There are very good and professional employees at frenchlick unlike Joe V and Dean Blackburn. They are trying to run a walmart instead of a resort. It will never be a 5 star property with the fake idiots they have running it. If the idiots would take lessons from the employees that have been around for a long time, maybe, they would learn something, but thats right they supposely have all the answers.

Yes, Dean Blackburn is another one that thinks he has all the answers and knows nothing about running a resort. He may be gone(I guess disappear is a better term) if Joe V stops too quickly(if you get what I mean:)). I honestly dont think anybody will ever do anything...I know of an employee that was told she either had to work a double shift or get written up because she had a visitor in the retail shop while she was working. Her visitor was someone dropping off her car keys and was in the shop for 2 minutes at the most. She hadnt had any customers the entire night either...Another time a co employee came into the shop and bought something and she got in trouble for "having visitors". Her boss has her own daughter working for her......who allows this to happen? This is the kind of things you deal with at that resort. The HR department is a joke!!

I couldnt agree more!!!!!!!! I was made fun of because of the shoes i wore to orientation. By the great H R staff. I have personally been there with problems of my own and the next day returning to work all of my co workers new about it. Isn't that a violation of their CODE OF CONDUCT,but even though they have rules they only apply to a cetian few. I guess that would mean the yes men and the boys club.

yea, Joe Bozo and the HR managers do not care about the local community. The local community voted that casino in and now Joe Bozo and Jay Freund/Connie Jackson are hiring all out of town people for the higher level jobs....They have no respect for our local town folks and show it. Had the locals known that they would eventually get rid of all the local town folks(the only people that genuinely care about the success of the resort)we would not have voted it in....It is a shame what is going on...Almost all of the good employees are gone and now there are mostly butt kissers and people from Evansville and Bloomington...

Allow me to tell you my experience while employed at French Lick as a dealer. About six months after starting I almost stroked out on the floor and was diagnosed with severe hypertension and anxiety. I was placed and medication and it messed with me and took the doctor several attempts at adjusting it to get it right. During this time frame I had made a comment on my Facebook page that I was not feeling well one night after working 1-11pm and I had volunteered to work additionally at the hotel two days later and I was gonna tell them went I went in the next day to find someone else I needed the rest and could not work 14 hour days. I went in the next day and Dale Nachriener pulled me out of the smoke shack and began chewing may ass for making a comment. Found out another employee had seen the comment took it and ran with it to Dales little hit witch Robin who then caused at least one person I know of their job. Then retaliated against me by assigning me to hand shuffled games and black jack mostly blackjack for over 3o days straight. I had to have surgery on my wrist for a second time after previously having a cyst removed two months earlier. I filed complaints with everyone, nothing was done...Labor board ask any employees that call what is going on there, who do they think they are...but do nothing because of Bill Cook. Since when do managers put their hands on employees...what the hell they think they running old style vegas crap....I filed complaint with EEOC and was given a right to sue letter...but lawyers got scared of Bill Cook I guess and would not sue and such.. I know of several lawsuits filed against this place by former employees. No they do not want local people working there. Nachreiner brought people from outside when he fired the ones who stood their ground against him...Why do the same people seem to win all the drawings and such each and every time....not the only employee treated like shit as well....so damn glad we left that damn joint....

The Resort is a JOKR, the management doesnt know how to run a FIVE STAR HOTEL....which by the way this resort will never b becoz the employees arent the important part they r treated like prisoners..the edr have been, more or less, taken away, unless u want 2 buy some vendor piece of shit sandwich.....or pay $2 a meal....no one cares about the employees, only JOE V AND HIS CRONIES seem 2 b the important ones in this hotel, problem is....EVERYONE HATES ALL OF THEM. THEY NEED 2 REMOVE THEIR HEADS FROM EACHOTHERS ASSES AND START CARING ABOUT THEIR EMPLOYEES and listening 2 what they have 2 say about things without putting a BRAND on any employee who goes 2 HR over any problem they may b having regardless of WHAT or WHO it may concern.....WE R ALL PRISONERS,THOSE WHO WORK THERE, INCLUDING ME...ALL THEY NEED 2 DO NOW IS PUT UP THE BARBED WIRE FENCE AND MAKE US WEAR ORANGE SUITS!!!!!!

yEP, THAT PLACE IS A JOKE. i CANT BELIEVE THAT IT IS RAN THE WAY IT IS. WHO SAYS THAT THE GENERAL MANAGER KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT RUNNING A RESORT/CASINO. ALL HE DOES IS WALKS AROUND IN HIS SUITS AND GETS DRUNK WITH HIS LITTLE FOLLOWER CLOSE BEHIND. THEY ARE LOSING SO MANY GROUPS AND INDIVIDUAL GUESTS AS WELL. COOK SHOULD HAVE REALLY CONCENTRATED ON THE MEDICAL MANUFACTURING BUSINESS AND KEPT PEOPLE LIKE CHUCK FRANZ OUT OF THE HOTEL...HE AND JAY FREUND NEED TO GO AWAY. ALTHOUGH I AM NOT SURE IF JAY COULD AFFORD TO THROW HIS KIDS BIRTHDAY PARTIES IF HE DIDNT WORK THERE. YES, YOU HEARD ME RIGHT. HE HAD HIS KIDS BIRTHDAY PARTY AT THE STABLES AT A CUT RATE. DO YOU THINK ANY OF THE OTHER EMPLOYEES COULD DO THAT? WHAT MAKES HIM ANY MORE SPECIAL THAN ANY OF THE OTHER EMPLOYEES? HE AND CHUCK FRANZ THINK THEY CAN DO ANYTHING THEY WANT AND IT APPEARS THEY DONT REALLY KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT ANYTHING.

oh man i cant believe the things i am finally hearing, an it is all true finally people are speaking, french lick is a beautiful place an they hae donr a great job restoring it but when it come to picking management they just dont have a clue, i have been in the business for 12 years an cannot believe the thigs that go on over there, good people have been fired just because they dont like you, well there is people i dont like be you still are decent to them not Dale or Bryan Marsh, but as i have already said, whoever picked the management sure did a lousy job, the power has went to their heads, they are not people,,,, people they cant even speak to there employees unless they have done something wrong, one employee said she had been there 6 months an passed Dale everyday an he had never spoke to her not even to say hello, just had hes head in the clouds or up someone ass, probably Tims

I am a former manager at the place and I might add... probably one of the best they have ever seen. I was fired for trying to give my people an incentive program which actually created extra revenue for the resort. I never missed a day of work, was never late, worked 50-60 hours a week religiously and treated my people with the utmost respect. My incentive program was approved by the former GM who incidentally was a great person and caring manager. When I was canned I was totally flabbergasted at the total lack of respect in which I was treated. Connie was decent to me, but in spite of her believing I was railroaded she stood with the company line decision and with the local HR mannequin who was really doing nothing more than being Bozo's mouthpiece. Originally, I was actually recruited for that job to help bridge a gap between the casino and resort people and was told I was a perfect fit. The place is really magnificent in spite of all of it's problems. It is a sad shame that the senior management chooses to abuse their power and have manifested a "haves" vs. "have not" mentality. While Bozo comps himself and his friends free booze and expensive meals under the guise of "building relationships" the line staff that makes near minimum wage can't even get a little incentive program for extending exemplary guest service. It's all water under the bridge now, but I am sad to see that my former co-workers are so unhappy in their place of work. I unlike most people realize... It's not like you can just quit if you are unhappy. It's not like French Lick Indiana is a bastion of quality employment opportunities. If you are reading this I have a few words to close with. To all the good people still working in the resort. I miss you and think of my time at the place often.

to continue why hire for positions only the people who joe likes more power or the people who brown nose why do the rules only apply to the ones who are working their butts off top management dose not know or have the ability to know the diffrence if u go to hr u r told thats a quick way to lose ur job why have it then worker quits already sort staffed well we will just have to work harder wont we
