FREMONT -- Tom Culbertson, executive director of the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center, gave reasons why Rutherford B. Hayes -- our nation's 19th president -- should have a statue in the U.S. Capitol's National Statuary Hall.

"When offered a chance to be educated at Yale,[Hayes] insisted that he would rather stay in Ohio." So he was either a mental case or he was terrified to leave Ohio and go to the big city, just as so many locals are to this day.
Let this guy have his darned statue. But he has to carve it himself, out of butter.
