Fremont skirmishes over proposed ordinance to ban illegal immigrants

The city of Fremont and residents are skirmishing over an proposed ordinance that could bar illegal immigrants from living and working in the city. I hope this works,may be a model for other cities.

Absolutely insane. Our Federal Laws already say they don't belong here and aiding/abetting, encouraging to come or stay here are all felonies, and yet this city cannot enact laws that basically mimic the Federal Statutes?

Since the Federal Government is dragging their feet in getting the damn illegals out, cities should be allowed to enact laws that mimic the federal ones so they can enforce them locally.

Many county's are either bankrupt or pushing there added cost to property owners.It has a ripple affect in foreclose.

Hmm I think WE THE PEOPLE should have a class action suite against our govenment for these VIOLATIONS OF OUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS ! Or does the Constitution only apply to those that are illegal. I spoke with Governer Heinamann yesterday and the man does not even know what AMENDENT IV OF THE US CONSTITUTION SAYS! Nope. Staying over your visa is a civil violation. Sneaking in without proper paperwork is criminal -- a misdemeanor, as per our Federal Statutes. Now, it is true that the government does not take the case to criminal court and, instead, uses a civil proceeding, as that saves some money for the taxpayers -- no need for a trial, jury, etc. But, sneaking in is actually a criminal violation.

Doing the happy dance there, Rose? You're disgusting. These illegals are costing us billions every year (as a country) and you sit there, all self-righteous, happy as a clam that some city cannot enact its own ordinance to try to save the citizens a bit.

Illegal aliens have no place here, and they ought to give a vote -- whomever votes to keep them can also pay for them.
