The article says: "The movie wants to bring to light three important messages:

1. The arbitrary and capricious use of INA 221 (g), the section of law which is holding many visa applications in limbo by the State Department and the unfair number of denials of L1 and H1B visas by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services;

2. That legal immigration is healthy for the United States and the lack thereof can actually affect the United States economy; and

3. How the immigration system is a labyrinth which only experienced immigration lawyers can navigate and ignorance of the trade might result in a tragedy."

Sure, a law firm specializing in immigration law wants it easier for immigrant workers who will hire the law firm and pay it lots of money. Duh.

This law firm assumes that immigration to the USA is a right some god gave foreign nationals. It is not, never was, and never will be. No foreign national has a 'right' to come to the USA for anything. It is a privilege granted them by the USA and her citizens. The USA doesn't have to be 'fair' with immigrants. "Fair" is a highly relative and inapplicable concept to immigration.

This law firm also assumes that the US State Department is "arbitrary and capricious" when, in fact, the US State Department is and should be more concerned with background checks and suitability of foreign nationals. Businesses hiring foreign nationals should always be of lesser concern, while the security of the USA should be of foremost concern.

Sounds like this law firm produced nothing but self-serving advertisement/propaganda. The US State Department should look into the backgrounds of the firm's partners. Some of them might be deportable.

I have just recently found your blog and absolutely love the posts. Thank you, thank you. I am still .NET programming but can't wait to try these things in Ruby and it is a great help to see such clear examples.
