Sikhs fight for right to wear turbans, beards in military, law enforcement

Two U.S. Army doctors are fighting to start active duty without having to shed the turbans and beards of their Sikh faith.

The Bill of Rights of the Texas Constitution (Article I, Section 4) allowed people to be excluded from holding office on religious grounds. An official could be "excluded from holding office" if she/he does not "acknowledge the existence of a Supreme Being."

This specifically excluded all Atheists and Agnostics from holding public office. It would also exclude: Most Buddhists, who do not believe in a personal deity.
Members of the Church of Satan; they are typically Agnostics.
Most Unitarian Universalists who regard themselves as Humanists, not Theists.
Some followers of the New Age who do not believe in the existence of a personal deity.

I am glad cuz when young sikhs (most of them) come out of punjab, 1st thing they do is shave their head and beard.

I think the Sikhs should follow the rules as every one else, concerning the dress codes for military, and law enforcement. They can dress as they wish as long as it does't require certain dress codes. I think that if it is allow for them to do this, it will cause great concerns to other.

Why do they keep on about this.
Muslims, Sikhs and Hindus should get rid of the Turbans in the US military.
If they want to fight with their turbans, then maybe they should create a Paki/Sikh/Hindu army, and we can let them help out sometimes.
Keep the cultural headgear out of the military and other civil services.

The US has a volunteer military at this time. If you don't want to play by their rules, stay out of their playground. If you want to "help" this country, there are plenty of ways to do it without threatening legal action because you want to wear a turban and not shave. Don't like it...LEAVE.
