When is Seymour going to get some new coaches for baseball and Football. They got rid of Bowman last year but they didnt get rid of the Hinkles or Richies who are terrible. Go watch the games and you will see. Now football season will be starting up soon enough lets hope Seymour athletic Dept will make changes. We need to bring back sports to Seymour. But first they need to clean house by getting new coaches. Or else were going to just have another loosing season.

Yes I agree we need new coaches here in Seymour. Its a shame kids dont want to play because the coaches are disrespectful and have no idea what there doing. I was at the frshmen game last week and the coach dropped the F word a few times. Then Hinkle SR got throwed out the game at Columbus North game for his mouth. It was embarrising to see. I agreee we need change.

Mike Lang is a proven adulterer and he is on the basketball staff.. How can Seymour basketball expect to have a decent team with someone like this as a leader?

1. The Seymour Baseball team is currently something like 19-4.
2. What is a "loosing" season?
3. Dan Henkle did NOT get tossed out of a Baseball game.
4. Mike Lang is the Girls BB coach at Trinity, he doesn't even coach at Seymour.
5. What have ANY of you done to make Seymour High School Baseball or Football better?
6. The Girls BB job is currently open, I suggest you apply for the job and show us how it's done.

He did get kicked out of the Columbus North Game. He got suspended for 3 games. Hes a horrible coach. And so is Richie the football coach. Here comes another loosing year here at Seymour. Jeremy Richie is atleast trying to do something to turn it around. But when you have SR Hinkle and his boy DJ who both are horrible it wont happend.

From the looks of most of these posts, I'd say we out to be replacing teachers and worry about the coaching later.

Your exactly right. But its fun reading the posts. But I do strongly believe we need change. My son has played for Seymour for the past 2 years and the coaching has been horrible. I cant say much for the varsity only the jv. We will be moving this summer out of state and we hope the coaching will be better. Good Luck to you guys and hope you do get changes.

How about we start talking about the programs and coaches at Seymour that seem to be doing it right. Not just in terms of automatically producing champions but developing the program, caring about the kids, and trying to make an impact on things. Then maybe we can have some examples of the types of sports and people the community should be supporting instead of these other people.

Some of these coaches sure know how to make a career off of the God given talent that walks into their room. But I don't see the football, basketball, or baseball teams doing much to help that talent grow, or for that matter trying to develop other kids around that talent to the team has a chance. Heck the coaches aren't doing to much to even make sure their kids end up being productive students or respectable kids.

I'm with Jimbo lets hear what programs at the school are actually working on developing not only athletes but also respectable students and young adults. Maybe we should start attending there competitions, talking kids into attending their youth programs, and pushing the AD and school to give them some support. We sure as heck need something to promote besides the sports that seems to get all the attention but never produce in return.

Love grammar advice from someone who says "we out to be" Must be a product of the failed system yourself.

But, agree we should be hiring people that care about being teaching and about the youth of this community. Not just ones that want a job that allows them to have coaching power. Clearly that hasn't worked out for us with the current state of some programs. My nephew and niece have both said some of the worst teachers in terms of actually educating students and caring about the kids are coaches on these sports programs. I hope this is not true about all the coaches employed at the school.

When the community not just the coaches starts developing kids who are willing to work hard, be a leader, care about school, be accountable for their actions, and care about something more than themselves then maybe we will have enough kids that can make a difference on these teams. Even in an individual sport its almost impossible to prosper without the support of others. This is not being developed at home. It's not coming from these coaches that are being mentioned. And I haven't seen it being worked on in the main sport youth programs my kids have participated in at Seymour. I'd be willing to put my kid in any of the programs that actually promoted and cared about what I mentioned above if they even exist in this town.

Back to my initial post, of all of you bitching, who among you has:
1. Coached in the youth leagues?
2. Put together travel teams and helped develop young players?
3. Actually been to a practices with the local high school teams and knows what's going on so you can actually speak intelligently on the subject?
4. Have been proactive in finding a solution, rather than whining on an anonymous obscure forum on the Internet?

It's easy to sit around and complain, what have YOU done to make Seymour athletics better?

Now now children. The real focus here should be pointing out the successful coaches in Seymour and promoting them. Successful not just in improved record, but also ones who are involved in all levels of development, and making their kids accountable both as students and as young adults. No need to focus on those who are only worried about themselves and living off of inherited talent. Start promoting the programs that actually put the kids first and are interested in all there athletes. These are the coaches and programs the community needs to start supporting if we want to show the athletic director and principal what we expect out of their staff.

Sam, I made a simple typo in one post....ya got me. Apparently that's all you got, you don't seem to have any response for any of the questions I've posed.

Jimbob, I don't necessarily disagree, in high school sports, championships are not necessarily the watermark of a successful program. Are you preparing kids to be adults? Are you helping to mold good citizens, good community members? Are you preparing them for life, or at least helping in the process?

I'm completely down with focusing on the positive, name names Jimbob, who are the ones you perceive are doing things right?

Lastly most of you people have no clue what's going on with sports at Seymour High School. The only thing you know is little Susie or Johnny didn't get to play as much, or where they wanted to, and you're pissed about it. So in your eyes coach (fill in the blank) is an idiot because they didn't see the talent in your kid.

Grammar, You yourself seem to make a decent amount of demands of those wanting better and act like you have all the needed information reguarding the sports programs.

How exactly are you making some positive strides for our sports program, so we can help support your cause? By the way there is more to this answer than just saying help coach something or things would be fixed by now with as many unpaid volunteers and financial backing as some programs have.

What do you know of our current sports coaches so we can have a better idea of what they are really doing for these young adults?

What coaches and programs would you advocate as doing a great job in helping these kids become better athletes and responsible young adults?

Maybe with all the info you seem to have we can start a movement in this community that will get better results. Im ready and willing to help you resurrect Seymour sports as soon as I find out more about how you see it happening.

So you don't have anything of use to offer besides get involved. Something by itself which hasn't done much to yield results over the last several years. Since you have offered up all the ideas and suggestions you have we can move on to others who may be able to help identify this communities worthwhile coaches/programs and offer suggestions that can help resurrect this town sports programs.
