With the economy the way it is right now, there is more of a need for section 8 housing in the south shore area. I know the sterotype that is attached to a person on these type of programs. But there are some really good people that need a safe and clean place to live and it is getting harder to help these people. If a tenant has a good history with current landlord, works hard, pays rent on time and treats your home with respect, why not give that tenant a chance? As agents, we need to protect our homeowner and not place a bad tenant with or without a program. We are not perfect, but when we do our homework right, we can find the right tenant for the right home. Many homes sit empty while many families are placed in homeless shelters or motels that we are all paying for. Not all tenants that have a program are going to be bad tenants. If you have a place for rent, have your agent get all information about that family before saying no. Even the tenants with the 750 credit score could be a nightmare tenant and be just as hard to evict. In these times, with all the forclosures going on in our neighborhood, we need to be a little more open to these type of programs. Thank you for reading :)
