Mahnomen Co. deputy named Officer of the Year

Chad Peterson, a Deputy Sheriff with the Mahnomen County Sheriff's Department has been named the 2009 Minnesota Police Officer of the Year by the Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association.

HAHA you are so ignorant its amusing. Mahnomen PD are so stupid they couldn't handle their job is that why they needed to call in 126 officers from all over. Thats too funny. I don't think the officers in Minneapolis or St.paul need to do that and they deal with these kinds of situations everyday. Maybe if they didn't hand a bunch of hillbillies badges they would've been a little more prepared

Actually Mahnomen would be a safer place if everyone that aren't enrolled and apart of the native community would just move. After all it is native land. Mahnomen is an Ojibwe word. HMMM something to think about

yea, right, and that's why 90% of the crime on the rez is native on native. check the stats you idiot, go ask any of the three sheriffs from clearwater, becker and mahnomen and get the stats from the rez crime. you will see that they are mostly, if not all, native on native. so, take a reality pill and check yourself. this whole thing wasn't a race issue and no one called in 100+ officers, they came on their own. and, yes, i am a WE enrolled and live here and was there that day and saw most of what happened. and, what does the name have to do with anything? minnesota is also an indian word, so is illinois, so what? the mahnomen sheriff's office are a good bunch of cops and i see them everyday doing their job. i thank them for doing what i don't want to do so i can be safe. and, to call them racist is ridiculous. have you seen cars and clothing with native pride on? what would people think if a person wore white pride clothing and other stuff? who's the real racists? where else can a person who is less than half native claim to be native and absolutely forget that they are more than half white and then play the race card? reality: people, it's out there, grab ahold of it and get a life. and, before you say it, again, i am WE enrolled and i live here and i work here.

Well i guess you must just be another sell out that feels inferior to the white race and feels the need to kiss ass to get by around here. I can understand your cowardly ways. The government used Natives for many years to sell out their own so maybe you should reality check yourself.

nope and you sound jealous. i respect myself and my heritage by pulling myself up by my own boot straps, having a good job, paying my bills, driving my own insured car with a license, having my own house, taking care of my child, never having been arrested, respecting my elders, respecting others, and, supporting the government (both tribal and state)that supports me with services like LE, fire fighters, and public utilities. put down your platinum ebt card and get a real job and stop weighing on our system.
