<quoted text>{To "Poos ur daddy":} I have always loved this quotation, used by Thoreau when he was lambasted by someone incorrectly with the same old 'common sense' nonsense:
"There is absolutely no common sense; it is all common nonsense."
People use the 'common sense card' when their argument holds less water than an adult diaper.
I agree with your post—thanks for the response. It is good to find intellectual Christians who take the time to think and not react with their gut only.
At least we agree about "Norton."

First, you are hardly a hillbilly. They have distinct features such as three ears, a propensity for looking cross-eyed during thunder storms, and an inability to do higher mathematics without an adding machine.
Now let me set this straight—Norton puzzles me. He is correct with his assertion that you are not to 'add nor take away', yet he should tell that to those who added The Rapture.
Knowledge is a wonderful thing, and although Christ admonished those who ridiculed the 'simple and unlearned', once again followers oversimplified his teachings much like his quotation about "The Eye of the Needle". The Eye was a specific place in the walls of Jerusalem, where camels and animals of burden were forced to kneel to enter the city's gates, and crawl upon their knees. It was built that way to make it difficult for marauding cavalry to enter quickly.
Later, the scripture was changed into a literal interpretation, "It is easier for a rich man to go through the Eye Of The Needle, than for him to enter the Kingdom of Heaven." If you take it literally meaning a real needle, it becomes impossible. The gate is quite possible if you get on your knees.
How many people know this? Or better yet, how many people want to know the real meaning? It's far simpler to belittle rich people and keep them out of your heaven.
I could go into the discussion about 'Spending an eternity without God is comparable to burning in the fires of Gehenna forever.' Gehenna was a Roman dump for all sorts of refuge, where fires consuming trash, bodies, and various other things, burned 24 hours seven days per week. He did not state that people would burn forever if they refused to believe in his father. He was stating that 'it would be better to burn in the dump forever than to spend an eternity without God/his Father.'
The truth is, the truth is not very popular much of anywhere, it appears. Therefore knowledge is indeed important. Christ spoke rather often in parables because the times required it, and his audience was rather simple and unlearned. The best way to get any point across is with stories or analogies.
Now pay close attention here. I am about to take flak for that which I know to be true, to be considered blasphemy because other people have been taught incorrectly and poorly for so long, even the ridiculous has become factual.
Hell as a place does not exist. Heaven exists with the Father. To be without the father for eternity is comparable to burning forever in a fire. It's not the punishment, it's a comparison. Yet what could be worse than an eternity without God? Not fire and brimstone.
That's the difference between learning the facts and professing to have learned the facts. It's true, like it or not. I am not anti-God nor a blasphemer. I deal with facts, not suppositions such as The Rapture, or the eye of A needle as opposed to the Eye Of The Needle—a real place. <sigh>
Here it comes.
:) Yep, here it comes! Where do you get that the rapture is not in the Bible? It is......only is says "catching away" or "caught up", etc. I don't know what Bible you study but my Bible says there will be a Rapture and I believe it. "The eye of the needle".........to me means that it will not be easy to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. The reason being that people will find it difficult to believe and have the faith. The Bible speaks of Hell more times than Heaven! Humm, wonder why? Remember Lazarus? Why would there be a heaven and not a hell? Makes no sense!

You correct that "people have been taught incorrectly and poorly".
I don't make any statements that cannot be proven scripturely. Am I perfect, no! Do I know everything, no! However, I believe the Bible to be the Word of God. I believe every word to be true. So, when you say there is not a Rapture or a Hell...you are taking away from the word of God because the Bible says there is a Heaven, a Hell and there is going to be a Rapture. I rest my case.

It reminds me of the plot by the Obamites to raise gasoline prices to equal those of Europe, so they could tax us into oblivion. The prices went up and never came down. The government is like a heroin addict—you give them more, and they will require more.
Anything that the government becomes involved in, they screw up. Take the Post Office as the best example. They are obsolete and will be out of business soon. Private enterprise will take over and do it better— unless the socialists like you take over and destroy private enterprise altogether.
1. US gas prices have NEVER in the past 50 years been more than European prices, where they have extremely high taxes on fuel.

US gas prices were the HIGHEST IN US HISTORY in the summer of 2008 under Bush43. So was Bush43 trying to tax you into oblivion?

http://www.timesunion.com/opinion/article/The...

2. So the US military is screwed up? The government is "involved in" the US military. As to the US Postal Service, electronic communications have taken away many of their sources of revenue, like mailed letters. I send very few personal letters anymore, because I can either use email or call the person directly.

3. One good example of "private enterprise" taking over governmental services was when companies were contracted to run penitentiaries. Corrupt judges kept sending innocent people (in the worst cases, children) back to jail time and time again to be raised by what you seem to be in love with: "private enterprise."

4. If you wish to call me a "socialist," be my guest. What you call me tells me more about YOU than it tells me about ME. Your pitiful efforts to appear to be an "intellectual" are highly amusing to me.

(So are your insults to "Norton." I do so love to see you "Christians" fighting each other over dogma.)

You "Gun Huggers" are so all alike!
Liberals, like the communists who had their own dreams of utopia, what might work in a perfect, imaginary world where one could snap a finger and have ALL guns disappear, could never work in the real world where only the law-abiding obey gun laws. Those of us on the freedom side of the gun debate understand several, blindingly obvious facts. They are as follows:

1.) Cain didn’t need a gun to kill Abel. Remove guns as a means to kill people, and people will find other ways.

2.) Disarm the law-abiding and only the criminals will have guns. Criminals don’t care what the law is. That’s why they are criminals!

3.) For every crime committed with a gun, many more are stopped by law-abiding gun owners.

4.) Crime drops in states that allow conceal-carry. Across the board, more guns usually equals less crime (except, of course, when our government ships guns to Mexican drug cartels).

5.) Crime, including gun crime, is highest in states that are strict on guns and gun carry.

6.) A disarmed populace is easy prey not only for criminals, but for criminal governments as well. An armed populace is a deterrent to government tyranny, oppression, and mass-murder.

Too often conservatives will paint liberals as wrong but ‘well-intentioned.’ It is time we stopped mincing words. Any sane person who truly researches and understands this issue and these undeniable facts, yet remains on the ‘gun control’ side of the debate, especially globalists and politicians who actively work to enact ‘duty to retreat’ laws, gun bans, and other measures to crack down on the fundamental human right of self-defense, any such person is far from well-intentioned.

They are the kind of people who would send a homeowner to jail for shooting a knife or gun-wielding burglar. They would punish a rape victim for bludgeoning or shooting her rapist in the act. They pass laws in places like England, New Zealand, Canada, New York, and Chicago that make it difficult and even criminal for ordinary folks to defend themselves against predators. They would deny me the ability to protect my wife and my kids in the place where I should be the safest, my own home.

In sum, they are evil. There is no such animal as a ‘well-intentioned gun grabber.’ The sooner we realize this, the more effective we will be at thwarting their attempts at enacting the kind of murderous tyranny they would have us all live in, the kind of tyranny they created in Russia in 1917.

On website AtheistNexus, read a comment by "Hiram" on April 3, 2012, regarding autism:

"I'm beginning to see autism not as a disease but as part of neurodiversity and the discourse around autism should be reframed within the context of human diversity. That is, diversity includes not only learning to tolerate and live with people of different languages, cultures, religions and sexual orientations but it should also involve learning to live with neurodiversity: learning to relate to introverts and extraverts, and learning to relate with autistic individuals and having a broader understanding of how people with different brains see the world. I am not alone in this view. There's even an Autism Pride movement!"

1. Did God make humans diverse?
2. Is this a Darwinian method for long-term survival of the species?
3. Do you want all humans to be the same?
4. Do you want all humans to think identical thoughts?
5. Why didn't God create "sheeple"?

You say, "Disarm the law-abiding and only the criminals will have guns."

What insight! What impeccable logic!

But I think you meant to say, "If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns." That is the approved catch-phrase!

Ah, yes! Russia in 1917! German in 1933! Keep this in mind: Those who ignore history will be doomed to hear someone say, "If you fail to learn from history you will have to repeat it."

Autism is not a language, it's a medical anomaly. Sign-language is because it's based upon the language already in place, even with the anomaly of deafness—much like Braille for the blind.

When those who are autistic can communicate using the language in place, then whatever they use to achieve this may qualify as a language, on a limited basis.

You would have us change language to adapt to shortcomings, instead of addressing the shortcomings to adapt to language. That's how we came to Ebonics and its abuse.
