how long has he been riding, or is he one of the newer riders who are saving money on gas as well as causing accidents? its a shame he died, and its also a shame that it was noted he was without helmet because we all know riders with helments never die.

Unforunatly, the media has to focus on the helmet, because to those who don't ride its hard to think of riding w/out a helmet....however it would be nice to have noted in these types of horrible incidents weather the rider was legaly allowed to be driving w/out his helmet (licenced for two years or have taken the motorcycle safety classes)

I hate motorcycles. They cause more accidents and make more noise than I care for. Take them all off the road!

Its kind of like a helmet, but different. WTF do you think it is? Typo by chance?

I would also like to know if he had been drinking, but unfortunately it drags another sterotype into the mix. My guess is he also smoked and didnt go to college.

Oh well, I miss the gold star for today. I have the consolation of not living in Erie.

Stereotypes aren't just given for no reason at all.

WOW we are really concerned about spelling and such and not about the topic at hand.
Given the hour of the accident my bet is that there may have been drinking involved. But the man is not any less dead either way whether it was an error in judgement or alcohol factoring in, still = death. Sad for his family and the loss and lets not worry about HOW to spell HELMET or wisa$$ SO WHAT? Motorcycles are here to stay and if you don't live in Erie county go BUG a forum in your own neighborhood.

Ahh yes, that is true, although i really hope that we can climb away from some, such as bikers drinking, smoking, and if in leather being in a gang. It is unfortunate though as the bikers i know contribute more to charity than those who i work with who feel they are of a better class and look down upon them. What is also sad is that those who i work with, if they knew me outside of work, i would not be a friend.

How am I ignorant?

Growing up I was around ATV's and dirt bikes and owned quite a few myself through out my teen and early to mid 20's years. I love the machines. Growing up I always knew about bike gangs, but there was never really much of a presence of that type of rider in the Erie area. So overall, my general feeling about bikes and those who ride up until around the 2000's was generally good, always took the ABATE signs to heart and took the time to be extra careful watching for bikes. All at once, it became the in thing to have a Harley in Erie, and many younger people started mounting up on the sport bikes......which equaled alot of more inexperienced people on the road, and quite frankly, alot of people who I feel can't handle the bikes to begin with. There is also a definite attitude change amongst bikers these days, and when I see the ABATE signs, my attitude is definitely not the same.

So when I say the stereotyping is too bad, I'm saying, don't tell me about it, take that message to fellow bikers. There are more and more stories like this printed every day.

So basically you are lumping all the bikers in a barrel with the new inexperienced A s s h ole ones who have made mistakes, weave in and out of traffic and do stupid crap and are not like some of us folks that have been riding 20 + yrs , doing good things ( blood drive, toys for tots, etc) and now you are being judgemental of ALL and stereotyping?? hmm yep there are always going to be good and bad everywhere but please don't forget to look twice anyhow... the person you may run into may be ME who is a mom and grandmother or my husband who is a dad and grandfather and we are worthy of riding the same roads.
