Sorry, but it is still rape due to her age; there is no reason for excuses. Her parents must be real winners.

It is still TECHNICALLY rape. The question is, nowadays, should it be? I say, NO FRIGGING WAY!!!! Call it something else, Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, etc., something like that. Calling someone a sex offender for this type of incident lessens the impact of true sex offenders and child molesters. IMHO

My kids aren't angels but my boys were not running around with 15 year old girls and my 16 year old girl isn't running around with 20 year old boys......because as parents we are providing guidelines and keeping track of our kids. Nothing pompous involved.

We would all like to believe that it can't be our kids.......but regardless of what you believe you do not always know what is up!!! Not being pompous either. Just realistic, I always was home, involved and available......out of sight..you are out of their minds........many many GOOD kids from Good homes ..I could give you horror stories........anf those parents would be horrified

She was 15 which is underage. She was also drunk which is date rape. You can't consent under 18 and you can't consent if you are drunk. I just wish we'd charge someone everytime a girl under 18 gets pregnant. The pregnancy is evidence of a crime. You can DNA the baby to find out the babydaddy.

Wrong, age of consent for a female in NYS is 17, for a male it is 18. Know the law before you quote it!

hahaha YOU don't know the law. 17 is the age. The state can't discriminate by gender.

She was 15 anyhow, which is clearly illegal AND considered a class D violent felony due to the young age.

The parents didn't rape the child. This man did. Its the fault of the one who chose to commit the crime. I bet he had some bad teachers and ran into some dickhead cops too. Why blame everyone but the perp? Thank the lord our justice system knows better than you.

I think we all agree that it was statuatory rape, but it is intersting that when they want to "have the baby" there is never a complaint filed or an investigation into charges. Way to many in that age group pushing baby strollers and you can bet that very few have filed a report for rape because it's the easy way for the taxpayers to pay everything for them and their baby.

it shouldn't be just about the payments. the law is broken every time a young teen gets pregnant. they will pull DNA for much lesser crimes. the adults who impregnate need to get that tax bill for the welfare as well. but I'd rather they go to jail. Once you start sending them to jail, the messages about statutory rape gets real clear and our society can tackle the problem.
