Can anyone explain to me why the Village of Fredonia is paying over 125,000 to the Library for a roof? The library has over 3 million in funds in the bank. Why the $15 grand to the Opera House??? The Village Hall is falling down, the Fire Dept is cutting back on dayshift staffing, the Police are possibly losing a officer and yet we fund these items???? I live within my means and if I can not afford a "luxury" I do without. Let the library fund its own roof problem and if the OPERA HOUSE can not be self sufficient than maybe that why the original Opera House closed. The college has beautiful theaters, use them. On another topic, When the Fire Dept responds outside the Village to a call at the County Home, BOTH paid paramedics have to go when there is a transport. This leaves the Village and its TAXPAYERS without anyone to respond to a emergency call. Fredonia responds because the private ambulance company is not available, usually because they are making more $$$ on a transport out of the city. The City of Dunkirk has told them they are not available to cover for the private company... This is not what MUTUAL AIDE was for. It is a shame that someone will have to die or be seriously hurt before this is corrected..

Whatsamattu has hit it right on the head. The Village is in a mess with buildings and grounds falling apart right before our eyes. I believe the Village part time politician's are barking up the wrong tree's.Maybe they should come up with yet another "Festival" or "Miracle" to keep them busy and let the Department heads run the village in a proper and priorative manner as they have been doing for year's.Where's Mayor Pagano when we need him the most to guide these goof's !!!

Dunkirk Fire still goes to the county home, but Fredoina has advanced life support where Dunkirk is just basic life support and most of the calls come in for require a paramedic and Fredonia is the only one with them. The Village should not fund anything but Police,Fire, Streets, water and sewer and the courts (the courts do make money but the mayor and his 2 girls want to give it up). I chose to move to Fredonia because of the quality of life here with a great police and fire departments and the street dept. All the other non-essential items need to be cut. Be carefull who you vote for at the next election !

My point was that Fredonia seems to be bailing our Allstar ambulance company a private entity Talk to the firemen and see what kind of bogus calls they (sometimes) are sent to at THE HOME somtimes legit but where do we draw the line??? Brocton, Portland, Ripley, the state line, HarborCreek????? enough is enough. It won't be taken seriously until a big bucks high almighty citizen in Fredonia dies or has to wait and wait for the Rescue squad to respond before this goes away. Hope its not my family or yours PS I am not one of the Big Bucks Citizens referred to above..

A lady almost died at my neighbors because the Cassadaga ambulance was on loan to the Gerry rodeo since theirs was broken down. The people helping her had to take some real big risks to keep her breathing during the 25 minutes it took an ambulance to arrive. They sent one from Dunkirk and then also sent the Cassadaga one from Gerry and they raced and the Dunkirk one got there first. These 'loans' and deals should not be allowed. While it's common for other ambulances to assist if there is a huge crisis nearby, it does seem like it's a rule and not the exception.

I agree with you I think the use of Fredonia Fire is abused by other departments is wrong especially when these other departments do not have ambulances of their own, if they want to run medical calls then the State should make them buy ambulances. Mutual aid states you give what you can get in return !

You must be on something to think the fredonia and dunkirk fire depts. are nothing without alstar! Is alstar ever in service? A COUNTY fire dept., your crazy. It would be a mess like the sheriff Dept.,Endless supply of money and higher taxes for the county with out the service!! John d'agoustino, Phil Jullian and you should have coffee together.

To Markie Post, The volunteers in the Fredonia Fire Dept. are not a show horse, far from it volunteers respond to alot of calls, when there is a fire they get 35 to 45 to respond, yea some get burned out, fredonia goes on about 1500 calls a year. All star ambulance is a JOKE they are out of service half the time there has been many times bothe of Fredonias ambulances are on calls at the same time, the second one manned by VOLUNTEERS ! You should get your facts straight before you open your BIG MOUTH !

Lets vote Michelle Twitchell out and once Sullivans term is up for re-election i hope Joe Cerrie runs cause he knows how to handle money and he cares about a village he grew up in and gave him the opportunity to prove himself and he wants to give back to the community in a way it will help everyone in Fredonia.

Fredonia is stuck in the 70's. Further growth of this town and neighboring towns is all due to the old ass stubborn politicians. The have no vision or the blood to make positive changes and thats the problem.

Markie Post must work for allstar ambulance, were would allstar and the rest of the north county be without fredoina to bail them out for paramedic calls, you cant count on allstar to be there ! The fire depts that don't have ambulances should get them if they want to go on first-aid calls with allstar out of service all the time its up to dunkirk and fredonia to pick up the slack, at least fredonia has 2 ambulances but dunkirk has only 1 so that would leave dunkirk with-out any transport service if they are going mutual aid and fredonia is also tied up on calls,, maybe its time for rural-metro ambulance to come in, they couldn't do any werse than allstar.

If fredonia is dtuck in the seventies, then why is the population going up as dunkirks declines, its predicted to surpass dunkirk soon ( it already does when college is in session ). New houses are being built, I think it is moving forward despite the Mayors attempts to destroy it.
