Why didn't Chautauqua County get the 100 jobs created by Haledyne? Is this the same company at the Incubator? According to Employment Spectator ( http://www.employmentspectator.com/2010/10/ha... ) Haledyne is hiring one hundred people in Syracuse. I Goggled Haledyne and it looks like the company resides in Syracuse?

The incubator isn't really going to create anything, is it?

I think the Incubator has been open for a couple of years and I haven't heard of anyone getting hired except interns. Maybe someone should audit their books and find out how many real jobs it has produced. Does anybody know how much money they have given as loans?

Good questions, I'd be interested on what is actually getting accomplished there. Where's all the new business and industry?

Seriously. Jobs in Chautauqua County, not happening. This county and its ever lovely IDA couldn't bring in an industry if the owner was willing and palnned to move here. All sarcasm aside, we get the governemnt and IDA we deserve. Boy with the results we have here we evidently deserve nothing. If we were to demand our IDA and officilas actually do bring in a new industry there would (in time) be one. Until then the IDA will "save jobs", collect the very nice paychecks and do nothing more than that. Simply the way it is and sad that it is that way.

We saw a graduation announcement in the paper for Textivia and Noobis, but I don't recall seeing graduation announcements for Haledyne, Team Services, and Apex Wind. I read in the Observer that Apex Wind was giving the college $250,000 to do the research, did the college ever get the money to do the reseach? Whatever happened to Act and Selling Hive? There were lots of articles about these two companies. There is also no fanfare about all the jobs they were suppose to create? Wasn't one of them suppose to work with the chamber? Does anyone know if these companies got loans and if so are they paying them back?

Incubator is a sham. Businesses take the start-up money an then move away. selling hive domain name is empty. Textivia moved to Raleigh, after taking NYS funds to get started. It's all corporate welfare and a complete waste of taxpayer money. It has NOTHING to do with educating students and it's taking education funding and funneling it to businesses. No one is even talking about how there are corporate entities out there that create "start-ups" just to launder government money in their direction. I believe APEX is one of these leaches. they get government start up money, build things they didn't finance, then sell them for a profit. the college needs to get its priorities straight. These are the people who live in lala land who know the LEAST about how businesses operate.

Maybe the Observer should do an article on these companies using NYS tax money and then moving away. If this is true it sounds like we are getting the short end.

Incubator is nothing more and nothing less than a bunch of privileged insiders using the government - corporate welfare complex to pad their nests. This scam is typical of how it is working on the federal level as well. It's nothing more than a wealth transfer under the guise of job creation for the commoners. And the those who cry the loudest for the poor are usually the insiders who are fleecing you. Wake up people.

Wrote a letter for the Observer, but it never got published. Guess there was some opposition to printing something critical of the incubator/college.

I'm not sure the newspaper has the resources to do a full investigation. It doesn't look like the incubator is a real not for profit so obtaining info would be difficult. If it were a not for profit it would have to do a 990 which would help to undercover some of what is going on in that building. Or should I say what isn't going on!
So is the incubator involved with any of the DLDC (Dunkirk) loan issues?
The major PR problem is they have proclaimed the incubator a success. So how could they now say the incubator is going away when they have advertised it as so successful? They could turn it into a school of Entrepeneurism or make it the school of business. This would allow them to save face.

Anyone can file a Freedom of Information Request involving anything other than national security information that is classified.

What's this about Apex Wind giving the college $250,000 for a research study? If this is correct, why wasn't a bigger deal made about this? And I thought the incubator was meant for startup companies, not like their most recent company STASH, that has been around since 1981 http://www.bizjournals.com/buffalo/news/2012/...

Why are we not seeing the Observer doing an in depth story on the incubator?

This is the article from the Observer regarding the $250k. http://www.observertoday.com/page/content.det... . I wonder if anyone on campus has seen a nickel of the money for research?

Good luck trying to get information regarding the incubator. I would assume it's part of the college budget. Is anybody managing the incubator on campus?

Even the Observer takes their marching orders from someone. Sure they take on the local yokel homebreds, even up to the county executive office, but the outside elites at the college are a totally group of power bearers.

If you are suggesting that SUNY has some sort of influence over the Observer, you are barking up the wrong tree. Articles and editorials in the observer are written all the way up to the national level, not just the "local yokels" as you put it.

Yes, as I mentioned earlier, look at federal politics and you will see the same shroud of elitist secrecy at work here. There are no coincidences and all the players are interconnected right down to this level. It's a compulsory wealth transfer mechanism that gradually siphons off the wealth if the the middle class into the hands of the elites. It's always done under the guise of some utilitarian purpose like creating jobs for the common worker. Folks study history.

As I mentioned earlier, file a freedom of information request if this is so important to you.

I don't have to. I am a student of history. It's only important to me in hoping others will do the same.
