Apparently this message board is just as biased as the paper that this article is from...

There are TWO candidates for the board of education seat vacated by Bobbie Jo Gibbons and the candidate in this article probably is not eligible to run because nobody can prove he resided in the district 30 days before the election.

Mr Gambino has attended 3 board meetings and it is a scary thing...he is asking questions that he should know the answers to and shows that he has no basic information about the school district. His claims regarding his credentials cannot be substantiated...and frankly he appears to be far too busy with his financial empire in Fredonia to do anything except try to get his taxes lowered by forcing a merger with Brocton...like that is going to happen....

I highly doubt this candidate will win as the question of the day is "who the bleep is Jeff Gambino?" in the school district...and the response is either we don't know or, he is the fool that put his election sign illegally in the front yard of the school and the little league field and other areas without asking permission.

Vote for the other guy...Doug Walter has been representing the people in the Brocton district the entire past year and has been an active member of the community...he is the only eligible candidate based on residency as he has lived here for 10 years.

It is interesting that in an Observer article yesterday there was this information...

"Brocton, which is proposing a 14 percent increase in the property tax levy, per pupil spends $20,500, receives $11,700 in state aid and is proposing to charge taxpayers $5,600....

...Fredonia also spends $17,400 per pupil and gets $6,900 per pupil in basic state aid. Taxpayers are charged $8,800 per student."

It would not seem that our taxes are as affected as you claim....

Actually it is hard to find a single person that is not a save our school member so the community is totally united in that aspect and support our school and we plan to stay that way... I think you must be an island to yourself and you sure don't know what you are talking about regarding what is going on in the district.

There is no good reason right now to procede with a merger since the administration cut all unnecessary positions they have been funding these past several years and the Observer has united the community by their inflammatory articles that have damaged our children. We have decided we are done with the nonsense and we love our school and our small town and we are keeping them!!!

Hey, if you need an example of what happens in a merged district, here is what Chautauqua Lake has for their stats...

Chautauqua Lake is an anomaly for a school its size it has a student population of around 800. There, spending per pupil stands at $22,000. The school gets $5,800 per student in state aid. And the budget voters will pass judgment on Tuesday carries a charge to property owners of $11,000 per student.

$11,000/student!!! How do you like those numbers...? This could be Brocton + Fredonia...

This community will be making a whole lot of noise if the issue continues to be forced on us...even if it has to be on the state level, make the tv news or any other sort of noise to affirm that NO, we are done...we are going to keep the status quo.

Take away all your State aid and what do you get? BCS relies heavily on State aid, Fredonia does not, If things do get worse for the State, you with 75% State aid will be hurt more than those with 56%

The Brocton School district is heavily dependent on others outside the district to pay for their School (75%) state aid, that will change in the future!, so look out and watch what you say! Not bad when everyone else pays for your School!

There is a reason the state pays such a large portion...it is because they have so many tax exempt properties in the Town of Portland. Over half of the taxable value of the properties in the Town are tax exempt. Therefore we qualify for more due to the drain they place on the Town. Don't sound like it is a handout....its not...it is equitable distribution due to the burden on our Town.

Say whatever you want, but this man did go to some meetings during the merger process, but is a concerned parent of two boys who attend BCS. He did not raise anyones taxes, nor did the old SOS group. Taxes would have gone up even if the merger occured. Divide the community? I think the vote showed that the whole community camet togther for the most part.

Funny, Gambino still has Florida plates on his pretty cadilac, so he aint been up here long and dont you have to change your plates over within 6 months of residency in NY? Sounds like he dont even qualify...... He just needs to move to the building he bought in fredonia and stay there cause he isnt wanted in brocton! BTW you put one of your damn signs on my property without asking and was pretty pissed! obviously you dont know enough people in the town to put up enough of your signs! jackass!

He only needs to have resided in the community for 30 days. It seems that you don't even know what your talking about. He's been at meetings, talked to alot of peole in the community and he seems pretty knowledgeable to me. After I spoke with him I felt very comfortable with his views and seems to be the guy we need on our board.

He has been to three meetings in the last two years. And after speaking to about everyone in the village going door to door, no one said he has stopped by at all. Not saying he is not a bad guy, but just think the other candidate is more knowledgable and has been to alot of boe meetings over the last year or so.

Please just ask Fredonia people what they think of Jeff Gambino.

Ask the guy who built his house, Joe Carapella.

Ask the District Attorney that prosecuted him, Billy Coughlin.

The only thing good about him running for the Brocton School Board is that he is not running for Fredonia's. Of course, he would NEVER get elected here. We know him too well.

Jeff is asking the most elementary questions about our district as if he is a "tourist" (which he is) and things that he should know before he even considers running for such a position. Do you want someone you can ask a question to that has the answers because they have done all their homework....or do you want Jeff that is still asking "where are the tax exempt properties?" DUH... I do not want to have to wait the entire year for an answer from Jeff when he will have to make a decision in a week and it will be wrong because he won't study while he is extensively renovating his building in Fredonia and he does not care what the answer is as long as it leads to a Fredonia merger...in that light he will simply tell the pro-merger board members to tell him how to vote to get the merger passed...without even checking to make sure it is what should be done...

He is already quoted in the paper online that his first concern is getting that merger through.... We just got the admin to get rid of some of the excess staff and you know what...we can do quite well with our budget and what if we had not had the excess staff all these years and had that money back....HMMMM merger would not be necessary... Come to the board of education meetings and find out how little makes the paper and that it is tainted when it does... You can also see Jeff in person holding up the meetings asking questions Doug Walter knows all the answers to and everyone else there knows the answers to because we have been at all the meetings...It is hard not to laugh at him since he stated he wanted to run for the board of education right in the center of the meeting and then went on to show he knows nothing about the district and made a total fool of himself...

In kindness we suggested to him to please join our community and learn about the area and all the things that you don't know and keep asking before you run and then run next year...didn't listen to us and is now looking like a fool...you know who told him to run and did not care he looked like a fool...the pro-merger board members and the staff... They loved him and told him to go and make a fool of yourself....let us help you!!! They sure did...so sorry Jeff that you were treated this way by those who sacrificed you like a lamb to the slaughter...

He forged the Builder's name on a draw check(s). That's not a dispute, its a crime.

But, I dont think he got a criminal record from it. He paid the amount back to get out of trouble.
