Some of you understand the complexities of this police action, and some obviously do not. With Warren Jweffs in prison, his hold over these people is weakening, and gradually the community is changing, but it will not happen overnight, and possible not even in this generation. All of the houses in town are owned by the FLDS trust, and they are not even on individual lots. People are told to get out if they do not please the Trust. Some 1500 have been excommunicated from the FLDS church. Regardless, they should be allowed to live as they choose, and worship as they choose. Now Attorney General Eric Holder is suing them. The Mohave County Sheriff's office has been sent in in spite of a no vote by the Arizona Legislature. Exactly what will they do when confronted by a 12 year old boy driving around on town (dirt) streets on a foront end loader as he carries out his daily chores of leveliing vacant lots? That is why they have maintained their own police department. Perhaps they do not consider this eligible for a traffic ticket and possible arrest of a young boy doing wat his father has told him to do. All of the children obviously have chores to do, by which they learn skills. I do not think it should be regulated by police with a gun. Gradually people are leaving the main town and buying land and building there own houses. Gradually even women are opening businesses such as an award-winning restaurant (The Merry Wives) and a health food store. The town is changing. Recently Warren Jeffs dictated exactly which 14 men as members of the FLDS are permitted to have sex with their wives. These people, are under attack from every side, and the more that happens, the more I fear the gradual changes will stop, and they will retreat into themselves. Before you pass judgement, make a Sunday drive to Colorado City for lunch at the Merry Wives Restaurant right on the highway, and drive through the community looking at their dairy, supermarket, building materials store and try to understand what they must feel like. Be sure to note that WORK, not FUN is their way of life, and that everything is very orderly and reserved. And look for signs of crime that necessitate armed police on patrol. I live in Mohave County, and I understand how these people are being attacked from all sides. I ajm not anti-gay, but if gap people are permitted to marry legally, in polygamy any worse?
If a man can support a large family and there is love in the home, is it really a crime? It is not my way of life, nor is it yours, but you need to go visit the town before you start making assumptions.

It is needed to curb the corruption brought on by Jeffs and Company. They will learn one way or the other the difference in right and wrong.

I am very pleased to hear about the new Mohave County Sheriff patrols. I have passed through Colorado City AZ. and Hilldale UT. many times on my way to the north rim of the Grand Canyon. It was always a frightening experience knowing that the only law enforcement around were operating under the authority of a religious sect rather than under unbiased civil authority. I would never go through the area after dark and was always afraid to stop. Now with this change I may stop off for gas and food and contribute a few dollars to the local economy.

It's about time. I have a very hard time with the fact that the state government hasn't stepped in and done something.

Heinous child/animal abuse, wife "swapping", individuals disappearing without a trace...does this sound like a "religious sect"?

More like a crime syndicate or occult worship.....

Yep, and it is amazing that there is not enough evidence to bring those accountable to justice?

Something ain't right here, seriously messed-up.

It takes a lot of folks to commit this many crimes. Somebody somewhere has left a trail of evidence.
