Too Old To Spank?

How old is too old to spank your child? Personally I feel that no matter what age if your son or daughter is acting like a "child" than they are not to old to be punished like one.

If you continue to spank your child as they grow older then you must not have raised them correctly or they could have other personal issues such as physcological problems, either way physical harm to your child is not the way to approach this matter. let me guess, your parents used to beat you as a child, am I correct? Become your childs freind and communicate with each other, spanking a child at a more advanced age will only make them have low self-esteem and make them rebel more. when will the physical reaction toward your child end? after a while it will turn into domestic violence. treat your child the way you would want to be treated. it's pretty sad when a parent gets on this public forum to ask for advice on how to raise your own child. show your child how much you love him/her, I know it's hard to raise children but suck it up and remember that we are only on this earth for a short while, I wish you luck.

you are a ass this person is trying to get help with a child and you are just putting them down but I do agree it is hard and very short time so just do your best so children just have to learn on there own

Just because your parents spank you doesn't mean they "beat" you. Spanking your children is a form of discipline. I was whipped as a child and I am a good person because of it. If I would've just gotten talked ti and put in a corner I wouldn't have ever learned a lesson I would've felt as if I'd gotten away with whatever I'd done.

spanking children is for people who don't have the intellegence to communicate with their child, if you hit your child then you are teaching them that it is ok to hit people. thats why there are so many BULLIES in todays society. if your child grows into an adult and wants to fight you then KICK THEIR ASS!!! but not a child who is trying to learn to be a good kid and do the right things. children act as their parents act.

I raised four children, one of four got the most spankings until the age of 12-13. Hitting doesn't help use a different form.
