My husband has been laid off and his unemployment won't start til next month. We tried east Missouri action and are on a waiting list for our gas and electric. Does anyone know of anywhere that helps with paying rent ?

When I lived in St. Louis a person could donate $1 toward helping our Neighbor[s]. I spoke with a Clerk at CL & W about putting an extra Dollar in my payment to help folks. Well, long story short I'm going to ask the Mayor to look at "DollarHelp". The reason for starting with that is this...if you haven't already you should contact the Salvation Army as you probably remember just days ago they were in front of the F'town Walmart collecting Donations. You should also contact United Way, my Wife was a Bell Ringer with them in Farmington. United Way is also a Partner in Dollar Help [dollarhelp dot org] if you'll also visit the Website you can learn more about Dollar Help and the various Assistance Programs.

Depending a Customers Payment History CL & W has a Budget. If I'm not mistaken so does BREC. I'm not a BREC Customer; maybe someone here who is can clarify and tell you how it works.

Lastly, there is the Ministerial Alliance here in F'town; if you attend Curch already you may want to speak with a Board Member and/or Pastor. I do know that there are a couple of Curches that can/do help their Adherents with their Utilities up to $75. So talking with your Church Board, Pastor and/or Ministerial Alliance could be helpful.
Really?

Get a job you lazy bitch, that's why our unemployment rate is so high. Stop sucking off of the people who do work. Seriously, get a job and become a productive member of society bitch.

BREC will do budget billing if you've been a customer for at least a year and a half with no late payments. Call Meadow Heights and talk to them about your situation, they may be able to help you or point you in the right direction. Lastly, please ignore the rude person in this thread.

I would like to thank the kind people that posted the helpful information. As for the other posting that was so completely unnecessary I do work have always worked but have had my hours cut. My husband and I have never been without jobs til now and have never had to ask for any assistance of any kind . I would much rather be in a position that we didn't have to and pray that he is able to find a job before the unemployment would even have time to kick in.

Sandy, every everyday Joe completely understands your situation. If a person could just go out and get a Job, there would be no unemployment. However, cutting hours and unemployment, as anyone who reads/hears the News [http://www.wnd.com/], is on a different level than it's actually hard to comprehend.

I don't know what field are familiar with but for 6 weeks a person can be trained in Customer Service at Accent taking Calls for Sprint. Training Pay is $9/hour. If/when something else comes along a person can move on to it.

Thanks Joe !! We will look that place up and be there in the morning. It would be great if they hire couples . Its more then I'm making but less then he was but at that rate if we both got on we would save a ton in gas and be in great shape. I thought this forum was for people to share information and help others in the area learn about the good things in our town. I thank you again and hope you and the other helpful people that post here keep doing so.

Yes they do hire couples. There are both Engagement Specialists and Management who married and/or engaged. There are 10 that I know of.

As far as the person(s) who post garbage; my best advice is to ignore it! Those of us who come here to share the truth and offer a recommendation to an asked Question, etc. we simply ignore it. We're not here to get even and as one who asks the Lord to help him align himself to the Word, Ecclesiastes says...The words of a wise man's mouth are gracious; but the lips of a fool will swallow up himself. There is no need to respond to these scoffers.
