My dear friend and cousin was the victim of a heroin overdose in early march 2011. She was missing for 21 days and the guy who gave her the drug and then dumped her body only got 5 years in prison. "Valerie's law" will help us get stricter penalties and help get these dealers off the street. We need to think about our youth.

the sad thing is i know the man who did this and i was about 12 years old when he tried feeding me extacy for sex and when i didnt take the drug nor give him sex he left me stranded at a hotel room the same hotel he brought this women to im not a piece of meat and he is guilty of giving her the drugs and leaving her lifeless body in a field i agree with this law valeries law take these drug dealers off the street he should of got MURDER charges he harmed this young women

where was your parents? why would you go to a motel with a man at the age of 13? was it for the same reason he was there? it must have been! but" that was still wrong! very wrong!

We need to treat the problem and the people with them. Instead of throwing these people in jail, the so called dealers who are selling to support there habits( most of the time)- we should be building more treatment center and making people MORE INFORMED!! Increasing the DOC populations is gonna help no one and only harm the honest tax paying American. It will not change anything. IF THERE I A DEMAND, THERE WILL ALWAYS BE A SUPPLY!!! The government needs tO start putting more money into our state funded rehabilitation centers and information centers instead of building more prisons. Someone u know or related to is addicted to drugs or alcohol but doesn't know there is a way out, a better way of life to live and no one wants there brother or mother or father or cousin to go to jail because they are sick- they need to be treated just like someone who has diabetes. ALCOHOLIC ANNONYMOUS AND NARCOTICS ANNONYMOUS WORK!!! No wants to give em a chance though because of the stigma that gone with them. But I have more honest, TRUELY caring people n my life now that I am a member than I EVER DID BEFORE!!! SO BEFORE U GO JUDGING SOMEONE WITHOUT ALL THE FACTS, GET UP AND GET INFORMED!!! You are absolutely right! As long as people continue to believe that drug addiction only happens to "bad people" and we continue to send people to prison instead of helping them to get clean, the problem will only get worse.
Please!!!... for the love of GOD people, get your heads outta your butts and quit with the whole "1940's- Reefer Madness" mentality and start really helping these people who are addicted. Too many of our young people are dying from heroin use. For some it is their first time and because of inexperience they use too much and OD. They don't get a second chance. Death is forever. And please parents don't think that because you "raised your kids right" or that they come from a good family that they are exempt....they aren't!! So please lets do what we can to bring treatment to everyone who needs it. The life you save may be the life of one of your family members or a close friend, or maybe even your own.

Agreed! These drugs are killing our kids and loved ones. It's time to ban the drugs,altogether!
