It has been talked about for years, and a YMCA in Caroline County is closer to becoming a reality.

Dora, if you are not willing to walk a short distance what in the world are you concerned about a gym and exercise for?

yes, poor planning, that's what I said...Library should not have been built in the village....besides isn't the village just an ongoing construction site? oh well anyway, glad I don't have to deal with the traffic coming thru

I believe her point is, they call these amenities for the "whole county" from the proffers, etc. but then don't provide parking, because they are really meant for the Ladysmith Village folks to be able to walk to...the rest of the county, not so much!

Clyde, my concern is not with a gym and exercise, my concern is with adequate parking for the facility so not to invade on the residence private parking areas of the village. I am not sure how my opinion on parking relates to any concern regarding a gym and exercise. With or without the YMCA and lack of library parking, I will get in my daily physical training with 2 mile runs, unfortunately not everyone is as fortunate or able bodied....every project in Caroline is only HALF done with many cut corners.

The Ladysmith library has parking for about 50 cars, without parking in travel lanes or infront of anyone's home. The ymca plan shows plenty of parking, but it's not going to be all right by the front door.

Parking at the library is really a non-issue.

as for the people complaining about parking in the Village and the Library, etc....um well in Bowling Green there is not a lot of parking for any of their businesses...and I do believe the entire county gets invited to their events and participates and no one complains!!! so why call out the Village! Caroline is building up so either deal with it or move out! and if you dont live there then why run your mouth! Free country so move on!

LV is being developed as a walkable community so you could park your car at, say the Y and after your swim or workout walk over to the library. It's the same as doing business at Union Bank in BG and walking down to the diner next to the courthouse. Why drive? besides it's healthier to walk.

So its being built... is it still on track to be open in April? Looking at it, it seems it won't be that soon...

Did someone say something about this thing being on time for 2012?
My how time flies.
And here we have the Y director ducking a BOS meeting where they want answers.
At least Wayne got all the money raised for it.
Or did he?

If the Y walks away, it doesn't really cost them much, does it? And with a lot more happening at other projects, why should they bother with a headache in Caroline when things are going much more smoothly much closer to home?

Maybe they are just waiting to move the building up to RT 1 to where all the other nice buildings were built and sitting empty.

Not really.
Last I heard the jobsite was shut down AGAIN for some reason or another. They've done the concrete twice and there's been mechanic's liens and shoddy work and the costs just keep going up.
Acors hasn't raised the money - shocker!
Is it true YMCA director O'Reilly didn't even bother showing up at the BOS meeting?

Ricky Bobby was right way back in April 2012. Anyone take him up on that bet?

Somehow life in the middle of a construction zone is supposed to be some sort of marketable "lifestyle."
Having to listen to generators, power saws, drills, air compressors, nail guns, hammering, bulldozers and foul-mouthed construction crews hollering at each other all day every day, week after week, month after month, year after year, can't be much of an "amenity."

Jeff Sili letter:

pretty disgusting to put up an elementary school as collateral for a luxury item. Bad business, fundamentally.

People need to wake up to how county finances have been handled in a consistently slipshod way for many years. The BOS acts as if it is stoned, drifting around in a stupor of self-delusion.
How many times have we heard this or that project would not cost the county money, only to have it backfire?

And why don't they ever figure out they need to fix what they have already broken before the next pretty bauble comes along for them to spend money on they do not have?

All they do is plow the county into deeper debt and none of the big wasteful spenders like Acors is smart enough to wait until they have the money in hand before they spend it.

Acors needs to explain why he has been at the heart of every spending boondoggle that has gone wrong and why he is never part of the solution.

The problem is Acors has people in bed with him that will make sure this gets pushed through no matter what....the mayor of Bowling Green is knee deep over here trying to help Acors with his Y while telling everyone his kids go to public schools and shooting his mouth off about uniforms.....we have a bet that when things don't work out his kids will be right up in private schools.....Just ironic that its those with money that have to rip the rest of us off......

Oh and the good mayor of Bowling Green is David Storke...make sure to NOT line his pockets and don't use his TCL kitchen or whatever it is.......I understand without him Wayne would have retired last election.....Now we have a rip off artist working us both ways on both sides of the county.........

Hoping this is not true about Mayor Storke
and checking on the Bowling green discussion site do not see anything about this

Old NewsStorke has always been Acors undercover buddy but I doubt hes coming out of the closet on this one.But come to think of it it would be right smart for Wayne to get some "respectable" citizens between him and the taxpayers to take the blame but I don't see Storke being that stupid
I see PTA we might be from the same neck of the woods?
