As a parent, I know it's frustrating when you put a child to bed and someone is making noise.

Wish we knew the whole progression of events, it could have been that the cop was aggressive with the guy right off the bat, or the cop tried to be polite and the guy was aggressive. Either way, the cop was probably in "parent mode" and not "cop mode" at the time and let emotions affect his judgement since it involved his child.

Nonetheless, it's still no excuse for such actions. I'm just trying to offer some perspective.

That being said, it's funny that if this wouldn't have involved a cop, it probably wouldn't have made the news. Cops are held to a higher standard by society, which is understandable as they're the ones enforcing the law. But people need to understand that they're still human and routinely deal with the dregs of society, which can influence their view on society as a whole and how they interact with them.

Anti you raise a good point in that he was probably acting out as a parent, but given his livelihood and means to support that child are provided by a job where he is expected not only uphold the law on duty, but be a model citizen (or at least act with knowledge of how the law works) offduty, I would think he would have taken a moment to think of His child's best interest overall. He is a liability to an already inept police force that could use less criminals in its ranks anyway. I know this man in a professional capacity and I have to say he is ill fitted for the job, his ego is ridiculous and he is nothing more than a hired thug. Does anyone know the name of the officer charged with DUI? I heard recently that Felts was told to resign or be fired, thought perhaps it be have been him. Although given his previous record on other forces I have a feeling if the rumor is true it probably had more to do with his indecent remarks to female citizens.

Why the heck didn't he call the cops(his supposed brothers) to begin with? Not too bright.

Well, that's why I said that the actions were still inexcusable.

I know that not all cops are saints, and not all are bad. There are many out there that are professional, yet there are also many that use the job to fuel their ego. Not knowing the officer in question, I can't make that judgement for myself or anyone else. If what you say is true, then it sounds to me like he is an example of the latter.
