Meeting Held About Possible Local Human Trafficking

Slavery sounds like a problem from the past. But Monday night in Bechtelsville a group is talking about how human trafficking could be a problem in Berks County today.

Why aren't they investigating how people from India and the Middle East get there citizenship, buy a business franchise then sponsor others to come to America and work them like slaves. Sure they pay them but they pay them for forty hours then work them for seventy or eighty hours. No extra pay let alone overtime

As a volunteer member of FREE, I was very pleased with the turn out for this meeting. The issues around human trafficking are horrendous and hard to prove, yet everyday people like you and me can play a part in bringing restoration to these girls and women, and play a part in bringing the real criminals before the courts,

C'mon...anytime you use the word "slavery" you can bet they aren't there of their own free will. I mean isn't that obvious?

It is an admirable effort when law enforcement assists foreign women with this problem of prostitution/sex slavery.

Are the "Johns" arrested at these establishments? I believe that arresting the customers would severely deter the establishment of such "businesses."

I would also like the local officials to focus on then plights of local Berks County women who are threatened with rape and death by their own corporate neighbors right here in Berks County.

No family should be threatened by local Berks terroristic coporations who use threats, machines, noises, and toxic fumes. I am aware of some who were threatened and harmed here in Berks by their "business" neighbors who were also using and dealing drugs at the workplace. And tried to force the innocent neighbors to participate in their illgal drug activities.

While I know it is great to want to assist foreigners, local women and families deserve as much attention and assistance immediately when the terror is occurring in their homes, properties, businesses.

And never....should a local law enforcement official verbally or blindly offer support to the VPs of such corporations. simply because they "know" them. unless your wife was being threatened with rape and death or your family was being terrorized, please do not assume who did and did not condone it.

Is that because they create jobs and contribute to the local tax base? Is it OK then when families lose their homes and businesses because they did not want to be killed or participate in drug activity?

It appears that when corporate VPs locate a facility next to a home, they, the VPs, alone bear the responsibility of any and all activities perpetrated at that facility.

Additionally, the county directed, years ago, that the property taxes must be paid for a property where they cannot live safely and a business where they and there customers are not safe.

Something is definitely wrong in this county when the perps are given support and the innocent are terrorized.
