In January of 2008 I came here for an oil change for my new car in the morning before heading to work. They apparently made a mistake putting the filter back on, as I would find out later. I headed off to work (30 miles away) not suspecting anything, parked at work, then headed home at the end of the day. While on the highway I noticed a sound from the engine (and the oil warning lit up), and I immediately pulled over but it was too late. The engine had overheated and seized up.
I had only had this car for 12 weeks, I was REALLY upset, but I decided to play nice. My thought was that this could happen to anybody, given enough oil changes. I had my car towed to the Hyundai dealership, and I was there when they inspected it.(I videotaped the inspection actually, this was too important for me to miss) So I contacted the Valvoline shop, and they said they would "Take care of it" and they were very nice, but I noticed an early pattern of not returning my calls. This made me nervous, so I filed a claim with my insurance company. Long story short: Valvoline did not return my calls, they would always promise me things on the phone and be polite, but they NEVER returned my calls. They dragged their feet when the insurance company contacted them, and neither the manager nor the owner ever filled out the insurance forms that were delivered by CERTIFIED MAIL. They claimed they never received them over and over. My insurance company finally submitted the claim to a law firm, and there is now a lawsuit against the owner(s) for the approximately $6,000 in damages that it cost to replace my engine in my brand new car. I'm still out of pocket for my deductible of $250 thanks to these dishonest characters. 1) I'm thankful my insurance company covered this 2) I would recommend never doing business with this Valvoline 3) I'm thankful I got a video of my car being inspected, I have proof of fault 4) It wouldn't hurt my feelings if this company closed tomorrow. Good riddance |

I had a similar problem as well. I took it in for an oil change and they took forever even though I was the only customer. Finally the manager called me out there and siad he thinks I have a big problem with my engine because they filled it with oil but it wasn't registering on the dipstick. He proceeds to tell me that he has been hearing about that a lot with my type of car so he recommended I get it checked out quickly. Well I get in my car and the low oil light is on so I drive about a mile down the road to a shop to have it checked out. When I told the workers there what the guy at Valvoline told me they looked at me funny like they had no clue what he was saying and checked my car out. He put 5 quarts of oil in my engine and pulled the dipstick and it registered. The valvoline guys never put oil back into my car and then were trying to tell me something was wrong with it. Needless to say I went back to get my money back and they told me that I now have 10 quarts of oil in my V6 engine and the 5 they put in are stuck in there somewhere. Ok I am not a mechanic but I wasn't born yesterday. So after about an hour of arguing and them draining my oil nad refilling it 3 times to try to find the 5 quarts they put in and never found I left and will never use a Valvoline Center again.
