Your story is wrong, Just to let you know. His name was Blake, he was from Paulina, and was currently residing in LaPlace.I was there with him that day. He never got out of the water and sliped back in. He got caught in the undertow, and myself and his girlfriend(my best friend) screamed for help. I got on to the bank by the owners and personel and told them and showed them what was going on, and they didn't even try to help him. His girlfriend stayed with him and we screamed back and forth to each other and the owners just watched us. When he went under she swam in and told them where he went down. It was less than 10 feet in front of where myself and the owners were standing. The other teenagers and I tried to get in and get him and they would not let us, they told us they would get him and to wait by the car. We waited and waited, they did nothing. He went under at around 7:45, and they didnt call the police or albulance until around 8:30, nor did they themselves go looking for him or try to save him. They let us watch our friend die, and then did nothing for us, they wouldnt let us call our parents until almost 10:00, And the rest of our group were all minors. Blake was the only one who was over the age of 17. We were all frantic and worried. I even tried throwing a tub to him, and the people who run Waynes World took that from me. I thought you should know what really happened, because I am tired of everyone getting the story you have printed on your website. I have nothing left to say to the people at Waynes World, because in my opinion they contributed to the death of a close friend of mine. My only hopes for them is they hear our screams everynight when they are going to bed, and they see nothing but his face in there dreams, because thats what I live with everynight now.

I find it very difficult to beleve that any adult stood by and did nothing while a 19 year old boy drown! I think some of the facts are missing from this version of the story

Thats why before you go tubing you have to sign a waiver saying that they are not responsible for you. because of stories just like this

Wow, the water must be much deeper there than it is near Tylertown. We went tubing there this summer and most of the time our tubes drug the bottom, but there was a swift undertow near a couple of logs.

Sorry to hear that you all had a bad trip and one lost his life.

Wayne's World has a very bad reputation with law enforcement. They're very irresponsible and have a lot of problems there.(Drinking, fighting, drowning, garbage dumped in the river, people getting naked & making a scene, etc.) I'm not surprised (though I am saddened) that they allowed this person to drown in the undertow, which can be very bad in parts of the Bogue Chitto.

There are several other places where you can rent tubes, canoes and kayaks that are much more responsible & have a better reputation--especially important when the river is up and more dangerous. Please be careful.

My sympathy to the family and friends of Blake.

I am deeply sadden by this story, I just lost a brother on June 26, 2010 in the Bogue Chitto river...He was trying to assist my cousin, bc the current was taking him up stream...My brother was a great swimmer; therefore, I am very confused about his death. I strongly believe that some laws need to be changed concerning tubing, canoeing, kayaking and any other water activities along the river. It should be policy that everyone entering that river wear a life jacket...whether you are a strong swimmer or even a life guard for that matter. The owner of the Bogue Chitto RIver said, "This is a beautiful river; but it can be very wicked." With that said, Why are we not seeking solutions to have fun and also ensure our safety? How many more lives are going to be taken before we stand up and make difference? A 14 year old boy drowned just last week in the same river...WE MUST PUT A STOP TO THIS EPIDEMIC!!!

I am very hurt to understand that you lost your brother. The story above about the 19 yr old was my son. Coming up on the anniversary of his death from 2006 on the Bouge Chitto River at Waynes World of Tubing I write this to you. If I could get legislation passed to shut this place down I would. I cannot believe that this place is still allowed to be open to make a few dollars to the expense of our loved ones. Many lives are lost and they still sleep at night.

I pulled up these past e-mails because my lovely daughter who is 19 years old visited Wayne's world this weekend and had a terrible experience. It is our opinion that the owners are crazy and beleive they can do whatever they wish since it is their property. We beieve they are also in tight with the local police department therefore making it difficult to file any formal complaints. THEY ARE CRAZY. DON'T TAKE YOUR FAMILY HERE!!

At the end of the summer last year I saw one of the employees hitting on a young man's girl friend. Th e boyfreind came over to stop it and the employee got in his face. Words were getting pretty loud when Wayne Mizel and another employee ran over. They told the two to leave. The two headed to their car. Only to be followed by Wayne and I heard Wayne and the other man making comments about they are going to pepper spray the boyfriend. They did they douced him reall good. I only hope that one day someone sprays him. So yes I can believe that they stoud by and watched this young man drown. They are crude people. Stay away.

Rivers often flood every spring or summer each year, causing damage to houses and yards. You can drown in the river if the river is wide and deep enough, even if you are one of the best swimmers. Most rivers will get over 8 ft deep to even a few hundreds of feet. There have been reports from fishermen about carnivorous fish, water snakes, and even alligators being found in rivers. The bacteria and some water plants from a river can get you sick when you swim in. Large rapids in rivers can get you wet easily and possibly trip you down on the river.

The owner was Wayne Meizel. He does have a problem. He feels as he is a man because he can pepper spray people. Watch out and stay away from this place.
