I feel bad for all of the workers. But this should also be a wakeup call for Alleghany County and Covington, VA as well since they rely primarly on a papermill for survival.
Good luck folks...

I have been thru many emotions since the news broke. I've been with this company for 31 years and was not far off from retiring. What has got me is, we have been working alot of overtime lately and this was giving us the idea that the company was going to be okay. Then Bamm, this. Another thing that gets my goat is that International Paper will not sell this plant to any interested parties. They don't want the competition, never mind about the folks working there or the affects on the surrounding area. International Paper, I say to you, What goes around, comes back around. Couldn't something have been done to make this work? I'm sure that all workers would have been willing not work for 2 weeks from timme to time, like before, instead this complete closing.
To my fellow workers...Keep your chin up and take one day at a time...When one door closes, God opens another one.

31 IPworker you are so right!!! when one door closes another one opens. May the door hit IP and the city/state officials on the way out!!!!

We have the city/state/government/ officials to think for most of the problems we now face. They have done everything they can to make people not want to come here. You have to go thru and act of congress to get a business sign much less a business. Officials how about going and pushing for extreme taxes on imports(better yet no imports)!! make these company's wish they could come back to the US.

The officials do not care about us. Look at the photo on Friday. Council and Kaine laughing like they were at a party!!! What another slap in the face to us. I have not seen any citizen since this announcement finding anything to hardly smile about much less laughing!! They know they will still get their pay check cause they will just tax the poor people loosing their homes and businesses more!!(get your pay checks from the imports destroying america not from the people that are already broken!!!!

People vote these folks in. We need to rethink things. Watch Fox News. Glen Beck, O'Reily and Hannity will enlighten you.
