My family and I are considering moving to Tennessee. I am a retired police officer in northern Illinois, and we're looking for a more peaceful, less crowded area to live. We're seeking nice neighbors, low crime, reasonably priced real estate with some actual land, and clean air. We've been looking at Columbia, Franklin; basically middle TN. After so many years of chaos in the Chicago area, we just want to live and let live. Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks.

HI Gina, I do hope you get this message . I moved from San Diego county last year to Henderson, TN. I also was fed up with the crap of the faster life. I live alone and im dealing with so many factors but God has been good and faithful to me. I have a beautiful one acre of pure heaven, but I also have things I deal with, mainly aloneness. Henderson seems to me mostly white, where I am anyhows. It is very beautiful and if you have a family, that might be a good choice for you. Pamela.

Although I live in IL, have many cousins that live in TN. Middle & west are best...as far as the economy. Nashville is too busy, but still better than Chicago! My cuz lives in Franklin, has for 30+yrs & loves it. I love Nashville, but would live outside east or north of the city. Know people who have retired south of Nashville, too & were very satisfied. If you fish? Living north of Nashville you will be closer to the Ky Lake...great fishing!

Pamela,

You are lucky to have gotten out of California when you did, I'm still in Orange County California and its getting worse here, I feel like I live in Mexico. I'm the minority every where you go people speak Spanish. The landscape of America is changing and I'm not so sure its for the good. I have had my home on the market for 7 months and I'm afraid that I will never get to Tennessee. I pray every day and night that some one buys my home. I also feel alone and desperate. I will pray for you. I know what it feel like .

Adrianne, I typed a response once but I dont see it now. I just want you to know how much I appreciated your email and your prayers! I understand so much what your saying. This place has some negatives as any place does, but also positives. I sure will pray that your house sells in Gods perfect time and that the process will go smoothly. It is hard being alone, I sure understand. From what I am seeing and hearing, people are moving to this area to do just what we are, starting again. The beauty of Tennessee is hard to beat in my view. The way I figure any move would be hard and does take adjusting. I will keep you in my prayers. Pamela.

We also are retiring and moving to TN. We have an amazing realtor, and have purchased a home in a great location. We will move in the next couple months. If you have questions give me a shout! We have been coming back and forth for 5 years and have done a huge amount of research. We have made excellent friends ( which is easy to do here ) and have a wonderful church home. God Bless!

Avoid nashville if you value peace and safety. This is not a safe city.

I just moved outside of Franklin. I love it here. I am close to Nashville but far enough away. People here are very friendly and community oriented. The climate and views are equal to my house in Portugal.

My husband and I with 2 children currently live in the UK. We are thinking about applying for a visa to come live in Tennessee. Getting tired of the lack of family life in the UK, people seem to be more concerned about going out and having fun without their children. Concerned whether we would be excepted? everyone says we would. We want to come to the USA and learn to live by your rules and regulations and contribute to society. We were married in USA 16years ago and wanted to live there ever since love the country and the people.
