As you can see from 99% of the postings, the Williamson County/Brentwood area is appreciated especially by people who have moved here from other places.

Williamson County schools are above average. All communities offer something a little different...Brentwood typically has a larger lot size with the houses (which also tend to be larger) but has no appreciable shopping except for Cool Springs on the southern extreme. Some will tell you that those in Brentwood are snobs and interested only in status, but I would not agree. I live in Franklin and would opine that there is more diversity and energy there.

All Williamson County schools are above average. However, Franklin HS has an accredited international baccalaurate program available to qualified students.

I would stay close to Franklin/Brentwood just for convenience if your budget affords it. There's nothing like a 10 minute commute!

The best public school is Grassland. Best in TN. Temple Hills area is quiet and beautiful and very convenient to the essentials. Check out WalnutRunEstate.com

Guide To Brentwood

What an interesting discussion!
I just moved to Brentwood last year, having lived in and around West Nashville for the previous five years.
Both west Nashville (Belle Meade, Green Hills, Bellevue) and Brentwood have higher income families, lower crime, and proportionately higher housing costs.
West Nashville is more "old money". People send their children to private schools and would not consider moving anywhere as "new money" as Brentwood. West Nashville is small boutiques, non-chain restaurants, Volvos, private schools.
Brentwood is BIG new construction housing mixed with older ranch neighborhoods. Brentwood is country music showy, excellent private schools,SUVs, TJ Maxx/Steinmart along Franklin Rd. You drive farther south to Cool Springs mega-mall-congestion-area, a true "exurb". It is a pleasant place to live and very convenient, but it will never have the cache of exclusive Nashville.
Brentwood costs the most of all Williamson Co. areas because it is the closest to Nashville and therefore offers the shortest commute downtown.
Franklin is a small-town mix of the two: history, convenience, good schools, new housing.
I write a weekly blog called the Fun Times Guide to Brentwood, if you need ideas for fun things to do here.

Real Estate Buyer Rebate

When you buy real estate--anywhere--what if you got a "rebate" back from your Realtor? Pretty cool, huh? Our firm, Real Estate, a la Carte, offers a Buyer's Rebate program and flat fees for sellers. It is your choice: use a Realtor who will keep all of the commission, or use a Realtor who will give something back to the buyer? It's a no-brainer. Call for details; we will show you how we do this completely legal program.

I used to live in Green Hills--the part with a Belle Meade zip code--but moved to Brentwood 13 years ago. People can be nice or not regardless of zip code, so it is amusing to see the stereotyping in this thread.

Most folks who move to Williamson County love it, and I have helped many with mortgages and real estate services.

We've lived in Williamson County(Brentwood)since 2000 and moved here for the school system when we previously had our sons in private schools in Nashville(we're both native Nashvillians,a rarity for this area)We found the school system was excellent.I love the big wide open roads in Brentwood after growing up in Green hills traffic.Brentwood is convienent to everything, especially if you live near the interstate exchange off Concord Road.

We are also considering a move. Any info on which high school is best for kids who are musical: marching band, musicals, choirs, jazz band, etc. thanks!
Fred J. Page High School isn't exactly in Brentwood but it's in that general area. Page High has the best music program in the county. The band program is very successful and high acheiving. They have won the state marching band competition four years in a row. This year, the marching band went to Grand Nationals for the first time. They came in 33rd in the country and 2nd in their division for the entire country. This is very good for the first time and for a small school. The marching band, however, is not the only excelled program. They also have a Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Brass Choir, Winter Drumline, Music Theory, Music History, and Brass and Woodwind individual lessons available. I highly recommend this school if your children are interested in music.

Actually Franklin is the wealthest county in the state!!!!!!You don't need to argue with me on that!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Stephanie,
We love it here.
Brentwood is very clean...it is in the wealthiest county in the state, therefore is able to fund nice parks, roads, public schools, etc. There are NO projects or lower income housing. There are many websites that can direct/tell you about the real estate here. Also, a call to the Chamber of Commerce might help. They usually are willing to mail info packets.
Hope this helps.

I am sure who ever started this thread has since moved, and maybe moved again. I will say however that you just can't go wrong with anywhere in Williamson County. Different parts have different advantages.
I can speak mainly to Brentwood since that is where we moved to 12+ years ago. It is close to Cool Springs and Nashville, one acre lots, safe, friendly etc. We chose this area based on schools since I am a HUGE believer in public education. Brentwood High exceeded our expectations. Ravenwood, Centennial, Franklin are also exceptional schools. I don't really know much about Page or Independence.
In Belle Meade, Green Hills, and many of the Metro areas, many people send their children to private schools. So if you are into the private school thing, they may be a good option.

And for the record, scoobylover above is pulling your leg.

Hello "moving people." I moved from San Diego, California in October of 2005, living in Brentwood for my first year in Tennessee. I lived on a 2 acre cul de sac with gorgeous full grown trees in front and back. The school for this area was Ravenwood High School, Sunset elementary and a middle school on Crocket Road.

I now live in Nolensville, just a few blocks from where I work and I love the small town of about 4,500 people. The same schools apply as I live in Williamson county, which includes Brentwood.

Nolensville is growing, however, it still boasts of realistic home prices, "land," great schools, shopping and dining and the "friendliest" people you'll ever find. You can't do anything wrong because everyone will know about it LOL, but all the stores know me by name, including the Post Office and Library. This is a very friendly town and gorgeous, not filled with hundreds of subdivisions on both sides of almost every street.

And, driving from Nolensville to Brentwood takes about 10 - 15 minutes.

Good luck
