Towing Cars

#9 Feb 4, 2011
Last night the Village of Franklin Park called me on the phone using their automated phone messaging system.

The message stated that the village streets will continue to be cleaned of snow and that all cars that are parked illegally will be towed.

The message also stated that owners of illegally parked cars have as a grace period until 10AM today Friday February 4th to move their cars from designated snow removal routes.

Ken Zurek's editorial as it appeared in the local newspaper for Franklin Park Illinois;

As an Independent Certified Public Accountant, my training is not to accept at face value someone else's conclusions or interpretations of the facts, but to strip away the conclusions and interpretations, get to the relevant facts and then reach my own independent conclusions.

Accordingly, when statements emanating from the village on the amount of property tax money the village would receive in 2010 seemed to me to be totally inconsistent with the significant increase in the amount of property tax money due and payable to the village as appeared on the property tax bills, I decided to look into the matter.

In dealing with the village, getting to the facts was a nightmare akin to pulling teeth. I asked questions. I got words not answers. I wanted the facts. I got interpretations of the facts and spin based on the village's self-serving view of the facts. All of which, in my view, were designed and intended to serve political advantage. Taxpayers urgently need to limit the ability of those politicians who gain by "spinning" the issues of taxation and spending to their political advantage. Once such limitations are in place, the taxpayers then can reach their own conclusions based on facts, not fantasy. Enacting a truth in taxation ordinance would go a long way in that direction.

Stop with the home rule, it would have just added more taxes to the community. The mayor needs to stop spending money like a drunken sailor and start working with the budget he has.
I am tired of paying for his big shot ideas just to add his name to a police department campus.
People, even Elmhurst and Oak Brook are hurting, they are doing something about it, they are cutting back not spending money they do not have.
That is the answer at this time, not home rule.

PS, Elmhurst is a home rule community and still cannot make it.

I have a problem when an individual like Zurek uses our Village board meetings for his political agenda. If he's starting a political party what better way to get free publicity than creating unwanted havoc at these meetings. Please stop ! My time and the board members time is valuable.There is little time for grandstanding. Zurek being CPA should understand this. His motives are so transparent, he lacks credibility. Quit wasting our time zurek and use proper channels. And by the way when you blast this Mayors political appointments as uneducated check the level of the candidates your supporting like Rule. I don't recall him holding any colledge degrees yet you support him as a Village trustee.. See Kenny boy your hippocryse and misinformation stand out as much as the cheesey moustache on your face.
