I think it is outrageuos that the DA has not made a ruling in the Scott Kirkpatrick case! Scott's mother, Debbie and her family are good Christian people who deserve to have justice for their Scotty. Scott's mother lost her only child....in this terrible tragedy! Make this a priority ane let Debbie and her family have justice for her only son's tragic and untimely death!

I THINK THE WAY MURDERERS SHOULD NOT EVEN HAVE A TRIAL. AND THE COURTS SHOULD REMEMBER HOW THESE OFFICERS PUT THEIR LIVES ON THE LINE EVERY DAY AND HUNT AND HUNT THESE CRIMINALS THEN GO TO COURT AND GET A SLAP ON THE HAND AND LET OUT TO DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN.

where are you getting your information from? I don't see much in the story that is linked to this topic. Yes, unfortunately it can be frustrating for family and friends of victims when investigations are drawn out over time.

What other information is available that isn't in the linked story?

Actually, what's outrageous is that this poor man, the real victim in this case, is being charged with manslaughter:

http://post-gazette.com/pg/07112/780167-100.s...

These people didn't ask for someone to show up at their door at 3 a.m., making enough noise to wake them from their sleep. Scott didn't just show up and immediately get shot. He went back and forth, between two doors on different sides of the house...peering into their windows, and eventually kicking one of the doors. Now let me ask you, if someone's kicking in your door at your house at 3a.m., are you supposed to ask him if he's armed or going to hurt you? Are you supposed to wait and see, once he's broken into your house, if he's armed? How many times have you heard on the news about home invasions where the people living in the house are injured or even killed? Were these people supposed to take that chance? These people are good Christian people as well....not murderers who were waiting for someone to show up at their door so they could shoot them. Its a terribly unfortunate set of circumstances that led to Scott's death, but to charge this man with manslaughter for protecting his wife and home from an intruder is just downright wrong!

Have to agree with you, I tell ya' what... I would have used something much more powerful than a .22

Sounds like a lot of monday morning quarterbacking going on.
If those folks were in fear, and at 3am. I assure you in Texas, his ass is done..
Sad circumstance all the way around, but what is a family to do? let someone break in and just see what happens? that is ridiculous that he is being charged..
Sounds like the DA is giving a green light to the shitheads of the nightime to just go wreak havoc and we will protect you.

Melissa, I think you are right on target. How about the families and friends of this poor man who was just trying to get a nights sleep.
