God Bless America. Real criminals have endless resources to bleed the taxpayer. I can only hope that these three murderers are forced to live in the general population at the State Pen.

While at the Mercer prison, prior to his arrest on this case, one of James O'brien's favorite hobbies was tormenting child molesters. He was very loud and conspicuous in his opinions about child molesters and what scum they are. I'll bet he is paying for that now if he is placed in general population; word of these matters travels to different prisons. You may wnat to talk to former inmates who knew him at Mercer

The man is mentally ill. He should be executed!

He is not mentally ill, but has a severely disturbed personality. If he were mentally ill, execution would not be an option under the current laws regarding the death penalty. While he was at Mercer harrassing other child molesters, he had already committed this offense, but hadn't been arrestred yet; he thought he got away with it. He told other inmates he was in prison for robbery. Actually, he had attepted to abduct a young lady and force her into the trunk of his car. He refused to get involved with sex offender therapy because he denied being a sex offender. You can be nearly certain that there were other victims. During his trial, he tried to present himself as some kind of stud-muffin who had no need for raping a young girl because women were enormously attracted to him, and his explaination of how his semen was found on the victim was absurd.

I don't believe that Walker was involved in the actual rape. Walker was simply a hapless, inadequate individual who went along with the O'Brien brothers because their tolerance of him allowed him a sense of identity, albeit perverse. Walker was significanly older than the O'Briens, and his complacency in this sceme only serves to demonstrate what an idiot he truly was.

Can somebody fill me in on the details? I know that this little girl was murdered in one of the most horrible ways imaginable. But I see that three people are mentioned. Was the case solved? Has anyone ever been arrested? Have they been tried? Have they been convicted? If so, what was their sentence? And did they say why they did it? I moved out of Venango County a long time ago.

For someone to take the life of another human being, without any forethought about the pain and suffering that he will do not only to the victim but to the dear family and friends as well, needs to pay with his life. We here time and time again that capital punishment is not a deterrent against murder. How many of them continue to do wrong and even commit murder while in prison? America needs to stand together on this - once an individual or individuals are found guilty of heinous murders such as this one - they must pay the high price for their diabolical crime and that is death; and do it expeditiously not 10 to 20 years from now.

I agree with you, Alfred, from San bernadino, CA,
Not to take away from this sad, sad case, but I am so sick and tired of hearing about convicted killer(s) rights. Where are the victim's rights? The KILLER(S) didn't care about THEIR,(their victims') rights. COME ON AMERICA, lets get real!!!!

I do not know Shauna or even live near PA, but my heart goes out to her family and friends. Try not to focus on her death, but on her life and know that she is with Jesus and at peace. I will pray that your family gets justice and May God Bless You and ease your pain.

I noticed the comments above concerning the murderers' appeals were posted in 2007. Has the appeals process ended? Is there anything that can be done to keep these miserable creeps in prison?

Also, I know it has been over a decade now, but does anyone know why the death penalty was not sought in this case?

In reference to name Gerasoni. That name was involved only. But Richard G. belonged to a biker group at the time of the Howe crime. As also then shortly after the Howe crime at Coulters Hole. The bikers beat up Jake Deeter and Derek Black at Coulters Hole. As then the Law "then" believed. That Deeter and Black may of been "then" beaten up as some kind of pay back for the Howe crime. And or to of shut them up etc. Of which was nonsense. As Deeter and Black were beaten because of very unrelated reasons to do with the Howe crime.

As the Law was just "then" going down there list of "priors" Prior crimes at Coulters Hole. In that anyone who had ever been to Coulters Hole. Was a suspect. For those who don't know Coulters Hole is a popular swimming hole secluded in the woods outside of Oil City PA. Where lots of underage parties go on and fights and crimes etc.
