To tell you the truth, I am too confused to experience Sour Grapes. We have lived in this community for several years now, an have tried earnestly to listen to both side of this school board debate. The more I hear, the less I know. If anything, I think I suffer from Voters Remorse. I just want great schools for my kid, and a cease to the in-fighting.

You asked:
1) become the only school board in the state to reject OSBA
2) try to get push religious beliefs of Creationism on kids
3) try to move a much loved high school principal to a do-nothing position (let's see if they still hire for that position that they said was needed)
4) run two superintendents out of the district with both citing terrible micro-managing and disorganization on the board as one of the reasons for transfer
5) run two treasurers out of the district with both citing terrible micro-managing and disorganization on the board as one of the reasons for transfer
6) run four principals out of the district for same reason
7) say that teachers should be evaluated by listening in on intercoms to classes secretly
8) promise alternatives to levies and not say anything
9) propose creating a for profit charter school at Clearcreek that would support home schooled children instead of district children
10) pester and bother other district employees to the point of considering retirement and resignation

...let me stop there because I know that you will just do a wholesale rejection of these ideas by blaming the third grade communist union teachers and their soviet friends.

1)(Read OSBA positions and see if they are working for the benefit of the students and taxpayers or for the unions then get back to me)
2)(Absolute balderdash, and bovine scatology)
3) What will you do if they do, cry they are wasting money on our children's futures?
4)(Gene said it was a philosophical difference, evidently he does not wish to put children first before the union. Dave Baker left with Mr Anderson and Mr Miller in the voting majority I assume you are blaming them)
5)(Eric Beaver left before he had even served six weeks, I think that one was just a bad hire by the previous board of which Mr. Miller and Mr. Anderson were in the voting majority for both the escapades you describe)
6)(Aside from Mrs Babb plotting Mrs. Lord's demise aided once again by Mr. Lolli, Mr. Anderson, and Mr. Miller who has been run out?)
7)(Why would they not just sit in the class and observe, unless you are Ron Malone and asleep, this seems to be a good way to go)
8)(After five failed levies I am glad not to be faced with the prospect again for a few years. I for one am glad the school district finally adopted the majority of Mr. Rigano and Mr Petroni's ideas, they took us from a deficit of $30 mil to a $6 mil surplus in less than 6 months with no new sources of revenue)
9)(I must have missed that part of a board meeting, could you cite the source of that statement)
10)(If asking one to do their job is bothering or pestering someone we are really in trouble)

(The parents in the district are the main reason our schools are so successful in the first place. Take all of our resources and teachers, magically plant them in East or West Dayton and see if the successes here are replicated. My guess is they would not be.)

The main issue remains 2000 students in this district that are failing (receiving 71% or below on the Ohio Achievement Tests). Not once in your diatribe did I see you mention the children, yet they are ultimately the reason for any of us being here. All you care about is some overpaid adults who are being asked to to their duty. It is all about the kids, all of the kids, not just yours.

Last go around when Jim Rigano as on the BOE did he bring up the tpic of arming our teachers and investigating charter schools? What has changed? His relationship with Kohls and Petroni or something else?? I'm trying to understand. It's a very different Jim Rigano. I don't trust what appears to be true. What is he true to? What are his true beliefs for running the schools? Can someone enlighten me please?

"Guns and charter schools?".... You're kidding, right?
The protection of our children vs. the education of our children are of course completely separate topics!

Q) How is what's happening now any different than the Columbine shooting (13 years ago) about the time Jim Rigano entered the school board?
A) The shootings in America's schools continue... UNABATED!

Rigano has taken this position because "gun free zone" stickers on public buildings obviously do nothing to save lives. Services for mentally ill been tried, and they repeatedly fail. The banning of guns isn't the answer because beginning day #1 of any such ban, a black market for foreign-made guns will blossom and grow. Do you wanna put bulletproof glass and bars on every school building window? Do you wanna double-up on existing security measures? This is all well and good. We'd better be prepared to pay for ALL of it ourselves.

This is a very different America than the America of 1999. Jim Rigano thinks very dynamically. He's willing and able to alter his thinking to fit changing times. I suggest you learn to do likewise.

__________

http://pjmedia.com/tatler/2012/12/21/this-pos...

Recently the NRA came out with a proposal to post armed police officers at schools to prevent or at least minimize the next school shooting. The left promptly called the idea nuts.

Turns out, it wasn’t a new idea. President Bill Clinton proposed the same idea in April 2000. He implemented it, too, only to see Barack Obama cut the funding for it.

So, if you’re keeping score, the NRA agrees with a 12-year old Bill Clinton position on school security. The left just called a former Democrat president “crazy.”

Let’s get even more confusing. Clinton proposed more security for schools in the wake of the 1999 Columbine shooting. It turns out that Columbine High School did have an armed sheriff’s deputy on the scene the day of its tragic shooting spree. That deputy exchanged fire with one of the killers twice, drawing their attention away from killing unarmed teenagers. The deputy and his backup also helped organize the evacuation of students from the school. Though the deputy’s presence obviously did not stop the attack from happening, it likely did save many lives.

Let’s pile on even more confusion. The NRA today proposed protecting our children to a level similar to the way we protect our banks and many public buildings: With armed security. As we’ve established, this idea has been around for more than 12 years and was once proposed by a Democratic president. Many on the anti-gun left responded to today’s proposal not with a thoughtful rejoinder, but with calls to shoot Wayne LaPierre.

I’m not done yet. There is one more bit of confusing data to work with. The Columbine shooting occurred on April 20, 1999. The Assault Weapons Ban that the Democrats wish to revive in response to the Newtown killings ran from 1993 to 2004.

hey don, will you please concede to the people's will and admit that your Babb for Boro November 2011 campaign failed; and will you please stop wasting taxpayers time and money with your continued protests against a free election;
Will you please resign your status quo leadership position of just "sitting" on the board, year after year, protesting all changes for the good of all our students;
offering nothing in service to our schools and community except your time and money wasting protests against doing what's right; and offering only your whines and longings for keeping our kids left behind, just like during the long ago forgotten glory days of the good ole boys BOE pro-union rule in our schools and community.
Will you step up to honor the voter's trust in you as a board representative to finally do the right thing?
Will you please resign and join our former "has been a BOE president" as one who simply does not agree with the new direction of our BOE majority; in whom our school district voters have placed our trust to assure every child in our community a quality education, while living within our community financial resources.

No one else can enlighten you to the truth that Mrs.Kohls, Mr.Petroni, and Mr. Rigano are doing what's right for our school children and community. It is each one's task to educate oneself beyond the political opposition's agenda to discredit, distract, and personally attack the new philosophy of our reform-minded school board representatives.
Those who stay engaged in their currently hostile attacks on the character and integrity of these highly popular and successful board members: Mrs. Kohls, Mr. Petroni, Mr. Rigano: cannot be helped, until they decide for themselves to let the light of the truth shine into the darkness of their status quo tunnel vision for our children's future.
Those of us who tire of your foolish banter at public board meetings, grandstanding your biased "toward SEA empowerment" over our kids first new philosophy; respecfully ask that you stop wasting taxpayers time and money in your pursuit of politics of personal destruction. It's OUR school board meeting; NOT a meeting
of the SEA union masters to claim for their own use of bashing our good public servants, preaching to the jeering "choir of SEA members" the false worship of the education gods as our children's ONLY educational saviors.

I would love it wrote:
What's the difference between the tactics of the Springboro teachers union and Teamsters led by Jimmy Hoffa or Union Longshoremen, etc.? Not much in my opinion. They acted like the student section(Blue Crew) at basketball game during the board meeting last night. I didn't realize a professional meeting was a place for applause, booing and interruptions as if yelling at a ref.
I am not talking about all Springboro Teachers. Just the ones acting unproffesional at the meeting. If teachers have a problem with anyone it should be the voters. The BOE is doing the job the voters demanded.
...and so the 2012 SEA politics of destruction against Mrs. Kohls, Mr. Petroni, and Mr. Rigano to distract, disrupt, and personally attack, continue with our 2013 public board meetings Janaury 10, January 22, February 14, and blah blah blah on the bad babb for boro and david bowman blogs....

How long will it take these union/community activists to realize that common sense Springboro families and taxpaying homeowners won't step down from doing what's right for our school children and community; and won't be drawn into the union/community activists' alinsky-type radical rules of ridicule?
