To the editor:Concord Monitor Who Killed Kathy Lynn I was disappointed in your story about my sister Kathy.(By the way we never called her Kathy Lynn) We with great sadness answered a series of 11 questions with implication that you were going to do a story on what she was like as a child and what she had the potential to become. The quotes you took from her own family were very little even though we were the ones that grew up with her. Obviously you were looking for gossip and to sensationalize the story. You instead quote people who over the years may have heard stories or might have remembered a particular moment. Except for one man, at the age of 14 (Kathy was 13) I had never heard of or knew of "porno and perverts" in our town. Even if I knew some of these people that she did and I probably did, I wouldn't have looked at them as "perverts" or as someone that would brutally beat, rape and kill me. There was a wonderful story in the answers we had given you and it came from our hearts. We shared with you what it was like to find out that she had been murdered, to shop with sisters for the clothes she would be buried in. How it broke our parents hearts and siblings that had to go on without her. What it felt like to have her body exhumed and watch her be buried again. You truly missed out on a story that should of been told. We love you Kathy

I am so very sorry about Kathy. I am sorry that you were also victimized again by the media. You and your family are in my thoughts.

I am truly sorry that you and your family have never been able to get closure. I was a teenager and a boyfriend, and to this day it has had some affect on me; however, not nearly to the degree that the family has endured. I remember the pain, and the tears that Earl and his wife (forgot her name)wept. I also remember the pain of Karen where she expressed so eloquently in her poetry. Bless you Kathy

Hey Janet, Now I remember... Lucille… of course. Sorry that both your parents are gone. You and your folks as well of course Karen, have my love. Special love goes out to Kathy. I still remember you, Karen, Kathy, and Kathy's dog very vividly. I can't believe that you live in Ohio? Janet I really wish to stay in touch. Please email at missionlen@hotmail.com. I'll tell you some beautiful things about where I live. I will even send some pics to prove. Kathy was destined to be a beautiful person, before she met her unfortunate, and fatal demise. I have a daughter that is 18, and the beautiful things my daughter has accomplished, I could see very easily Kathy being just as accomplished, if not more. The phrase, "only that good sie young," has a definite ring of truth. I hope to hear from you soon. Say hi to Karen and Mike for me. Just a minor correction, although I live in Oregon, I don't live in Portland, I live in a small community on the west coast called Astoria. Look it up on the Internet. I am presently living through tough times, but in the year I have lived here, I am going to do what I can to remain. Your very good friend of the family, Lenny

karen,
kathy's death has haunted me for over 30 years. She sat next to me in class. we built a swing over a ravine and she was in my tmbling class. she tried to teach me how to throw a basket ball many times at the rec center after school. she was funny. At the lake we bartered over a cowrie shell which I still have. I was thinking of sending it to you but I'm not sure I want to part with it. When are they going to get the DNA finished? We all know who did it but they have to prove it. He is still running around franklin. please let me know so I can put this to rest. Cindy lambert under my husband's e-mail

I remember my grandmother talking about this when I was a young girl, was the Gloddy family related to the Poisson's by any chance? Dussualt's? My grandmother came from Franklin and said Kathy was a cousin of hers. Thanks.

If so, it looks like he died. Check out the following link and look CLOSELY at the eleventh name down on the page: http://obits.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/ob... Of course, this could all be a coincidence. I don't know anything about the case and did not grow up in Franklin. Hope you find peace and, perhaps, some justice.

Hi Janet if you are referring to my post, no I was not a friend of his we did however have many mutual acquaintances. If you would like to email me cat_powernh@yahoo.com I would be willing to share with you what I know and point you towards some others who know more. Most of my knowledge about this only comes from alot stories told through the years as my family has been in E. Andover for 50+ years and Franklin/Tilton prior to that. Andy Guptill

Looking over some of the facts, I can't believe the authorities never arrested Dukette. In 1971, he was convicted of beating and raping a girl in California, but he didn't do any time for that crime until 1973 because he skipped town just after the conviction. Then, after Kathy's murder, he again skipped town. How did authorities finally track him down for the California crime, and when he was released, why was he not arrested for Kathy's murder? How much time did he serve for the California crime?
And why can't they arrest him now? Perhaps he'll name additional names if he feels he might go to prison for the rest of his life.
Is there simply not enough evidence to issue an arrest warrant? Why can't they arrest him, see what other information materializes during the process, and allow the chips to fall where they may.
Here is the time line, which seems to suggest that there's enough evidence to arrest Dukette:
Gloddy's father, Earl, told investigators in 1971 that he had rented an apartment to Dukette. Earl Gloddy told the police that he evicted Dukette after he served as a juror in a case in which Dukette's father was convicted of statutory rape.
Dukette told the Florida police he had gone fishing with Gloddy in East Andover on the day she died. Gloddy's body was found near a brook in West Franklin, close to the East Andover town line, according to the affidavit.
Dukette also told the Florida police that the day Gloddy died, the two had engaged in "lovemaking" and "petting," the affidavit says. Dukette was 28, and Gloddy was 13.
"He told the investigators that he did not remember engaging in sexual intercourse with her but stated it was possible," the affidavit says.
"Dukette denied that he would force Kathy to have sex with him if she resisted and claims he would never have beaten her because he 'would never beat another woman.'"
Dukette's account of Gloddy's death is hazy.
"Dukette claims that he does not remember what happened next but he found her lying in the water," the affidavit says. "She was dead."
Dukette told the Florida police that he panicked, drove away and then came back. He said he put Gloddy's body in the trunk of his convertible and "buried" her somewhere in Franklin, although he later told New Hampshire investigators that he may have dug a hole without ultimately burying her, according to the affidavit.
The affidavit casts doubt on Dukette's claim of nonviolence.
In the summer of 1971 - a few months before Gloddy's murder, Dukette repeatedly beat and raped a 14-year-old girl in California, according to the affidavit. He was convicted of that crime but did not go to jail until the winter of 1973, because the police could not locate him.
People who drank and rode motorcycles with Dukette in Franklin in the early 1970s told the Monitor that he had a reputation for being rough with women and went by the nicknames "Filthy McNasty" and "Dirty Eddie."
Dukette left New Hampshire shortly after Gloddy was killed, his girlfriend at the time told the police.
In 1971, investigators considered Dukette one of several suspects in the crime.
"The police never interviewed Dukette at that time because they could not locate him," the affidavit says.
"The police focused on several other suspects at the time but no one was ever arrested for the murder of Kathy Gloddy."
