I am looking at some property in The Ridges. This used to be a development called Wildflower. It appears to be a beautiful community.
Can anyone tell me good or bad things about the development. Please be specific as I'm seriously looking at buying some land there to build a full time home.

Check out the other thread for several comments about Wildflower.

Is Wildflower or someone else still advertising Wildflower?

I did a search and didn't come up with anything. I did look at the schools. Are those academies voucher schools or something? Does NC allow school vouchers or allow you to choose your kids school?

The "academies" in Macon County are private church schools.

Public schools assignments are based on your address. No vouchers.

Stay in OK, go to ORU or some John Birch Society charter school! Our local schools do very well, better than the holyroller schools that produce "stepford" type people who don't know how to think for themselves. We don't need anymore John Bircher/T-Baggers, we have enough and they have destroyed the local societal environment with their conservative, hateful, religious BS!

You are so right, Barney. The ultra religious power structure in Macon, combined with the religious terrorist crazies, have given Macon such a bad reputation that no open-minded creative people want to live here.

It is getting to be a really sick place.

That Dalton Christian bookstore kid spending two years supposedly doing economic development is the poster child for corruption in Macon County, all based in that arrogant do-gooder commercial religion.

Hi Moving. You're correct that the Ridges is a wonderful community. We are the new Developers of The Ridges and it is a portion of the original Wildflower Development Franklin, NC property.
We have done an enourmous amount of work on the roads, capping the spring that was creating washout of the roadway and we'll be having a live sale event on 98 Lots and properties that will be selling from as little as $14,900.
These are properties that range from 2-20 acre estates and have driveways, building flats, septic approvals and are ready to be built.
As the new developers we are pleased to spread the good word on the transformation from the old Wildflower days to the New Ridges. Our community center is open and our saline / saltwater pool is ready.
New Roads, New Engineering, New Approvals, everything you could want in a development at a fraction of what they were selling for prior to our takeover. We are intent on building a thriving, vibrant community in the heart of the mountains and title it "Living above the Clouds" featuring elevations of 3500 ft.

Hmmm, funny that "the ridges" and "moving" have the same IP from Ozark, AL? Could they be the same person perpetrating another scam?

OMG, the scam continues!

No, mr video person, it was not "the economy" that caused Wildflower to collapse. It was the roads and lots sliding down the unstable land form!

Any "developer" that resorts to TOPIX to try to sell lots is way more than suspect.

P.S. A "spring" in the mountains cannot be "capped." That water will pop out somewhere else come the next big rain. It's called a "bustout".

I bought in Diamond Falls from the people who are developing the Ridge. I have had nothing but problems with them. Owners are now locked out of the clubhouse, they won't finish the roads, I waited 7 months after starting my house to get the promised water and electicity. I have been lied to numberous times, and now they simply won't return calls. Check with the Macon County Building Dept. about LC Jones, or look at his BBB rating.

I wouldn't put it past these people. I sure was scammed by them. In Diamond Falls, we have a lovely clubhouse; however, we are locked out and it's used as a sales office. Maintenance is substandard and the developers won't finish the roads or even keep them graveled. They won't return calls or emails. I wouldn't put anything past them.

No surprise at all. We're used to that kind of sleazoid deception here.

Anybody heard how the "Ridges"auction went Saturday. The Franklin Press had an article about it (the auction) with quotes from some of the Planning Board who were not too happy that the lack of a local steep slope plan had allowed the same thing to happen all over again--deception for people who are buying sight unseen. The locals wouldn't get rooked into it though.

I find it funny that people who are used to living behind gates are all pissed because they are now locked out. HAHA

Anyone know how the ridges auction went down? Did anyone with more than a few hundred dollars show up?

It looks like the county is going to replace the Dalton boy with someone else who will do nothing but take taxpayer's dollars for doing nothing. Wonder whose relative will get the job?

I just drove through Ridges/Wildflower at 4:30 pm Oct. 8, 2016. Gates open. Balloons directed me to the clubhouse, but only two trucks there. Are lots still being sold? We have relatives in Franklin and have been looking at Clark's Chapel, too. Any updates?
