He was violently murdered around the time of the Oakland County Child Murders. Right around the time of Tim King's murder

I knew John well and bought many art pieces from him.His murderer was never arrested, but the Birmingham police said they thought they knew who killed him but could not prove it.

I'd be interested in knowing when and where you heard this. Nothing like that ever appeared in the newspapers. Do you have a name? Or if there is one or two perps?

I just picked up a piece of art which came from his gallery. Does anyone have background on the gallery and what may have been sold there.

I was close friends of an artist, who had exhibited both at John KcKinney's and Peggy DeSalle's galleries. She was a close friend with both of John & Peggy. She suspected her former husband, and the police questioned him, of being somehow involved, in the supposedly, very brutal murder. She and her former husband, did not live in the Birmingham Bloomfield area.

He opened the gallery around 1965, sold contempory art and focused on local artists. Custom framing was his specialty. What did you aquire that came from there? Print, painting, sculpture, fabric and who is the artist?

The murder was indeed brutal. What is the first name of your friend, I ask because I wonder if I can place her in my mind as I too, was a friend of JMcK.

She was very stunning, and very attractive to many men. She died in 1979.

She died in a auto accident in 1980 at age 44.

I have also recently acquired a painting from this gallery, and I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about it. It is a watercolor by H. Roberts. I can't find anything online about this artist.

I have an oil from the gallery in Birmingham , Mich. I was under impression that John McKinney was the artist, was he also gallery owner?

It is called, Migrant II, & measures 6ft x 8ft. I would love to know the value of it. For insurances reasons as well to advise my daughters, should they ever want to sell it.

If you have any information that would help. You can find me on facebook. Thanks so much. Bev
