Highwayshave savedpilots, butluck needed
How often have you been minding your own business on the interstate only to see an approaching plane get close enough to make you think it would surely land on your car? Tragedies like the crash Tuesday of a Socata TBM 700, which killed five on Route 287, don't happen often, but they happen.

From early reports by the eyewitnesses, several facts begin to emerge;
1) The pilot wasn't aiming at the highway for a landing,
2) even a runway long enough to land the space shuttle wouldn't have saved them,
3) more altitude would have only meant that the plane would have possibly broken in flight.
