Did anyone else notice that surrounding towns had Veterans Day parades and events to honor our Veterans and Franklin had Christmas Open House, totally ignoring them?

The Simpson Co Vietnam Veterans group used to have a boot camp and they never had it either. You used to see this group everywhere doing everything in Franklin and it is like they have disappeared. It is sad Franklin does not honor it's veterans.

I think Franklin has totally went down hill...they didnt even have the Fourth of July events they normally have. Thats why there is getting to be so much crime in this town because there is nothing to do here for kids.

I understand why the Vietnam Vets aren't as active as they used to be, they're getting in years and the younger crowd can't take that over. But it would be nice for this town to do something to celebrate its veterans!

I am sure if they had funded the boot camp, an organization would have taken it over and RAN it for them. Instead, they dropped it. One less thing they are now supporting.

Do you have knowledge of their finances? They don't have all of the funds they used to have! The money isn't coming in like it used to! They would continue to do things if they could. Most of them don't have the time or energy and they certainly don't have the funding!

And maybe others should step up and show some appreciation for the veterans in this town! They have stepped up an watched this country's back and protected it for hundreds of years, it's about time that others step up and say "We appreciate what you did, now we have your back!"

It is not the city's responsibility to babysit your kids. The reason the crime is what it is falls on the back of the parents. Poor parenting skills and lack of accountability. The drought and the economy cancelled the 4th festivities. As for the Vietnam Vets, they are 60 and 70 years old and they have more than did their service for this community.

Franklin DID have the 4th of July event. It was held at a later date because of the NO Burn Ban. It wasn't anyone's fault they didn't have it. But when they had it, do you know how many showed up? No more than 100 people came to see the fireworks. It was sad that much money was spent for that few people. It was free, and not even 100 people came.

I don't think there is a Simpson Co Vietnam Veterans group anymore. I heard it was disband a while back. I don't know what happen to the money, maybe gave to some charities. But let me tell ya, 60 - 70 IS NOT OLD. LOL

Have you noticed when anyone gets involved in Bingo, then the organization usually blows up? Money is the root of all evil.
