It doesn't matter is he comes back or not. Before he came, INDOT was a mess. After he came, it was a mess, but slightly better managed.

Indiana government would be so much better if they would take all the Commissioner positions and de-politicize them. Make senior managers be professionals in their profession. Not political hacks who got their jobs by making campagin donations.

Mitch might be bad, but after 16 years of democratic mismanagement, it was far worse.

PS...as an example, INDOT right now is being led by a man who is a computer specialist. Before that, an engineer who worked for a can company.

Why not hire a professional who know management of higway departments? Nahhhhh! That would actually make sense and Old Mitch wants the best mangement that can pay him!

Speak for yourself, stay in your sheltered world, don't think about progress or the future. Don't include unidentified persons in your opinion.

Maybe YOU do not need I-69 but most of the Hoosiers in the southwestern part of the state would love to have it. There are people in this portion of the state also you know. There are a lot of people that think Indiana consists only of Marion County.

If the I69 extension is really going to be the NAFTA Highway connecting Detroit to Mexico, let the federal government pay for it.

Indiana DOES NOT need it.

Upgrade US 41 to interstate standards. Send the heavy traffic around via Terre Haute. 3 of the 4 counties in per capita income would be served with far less farm and environmental damage and at 1/2 the price. Start progressively and creatively planning to take advantage of our unique karst and forest features to plan tourist freindly travelling throughout central and southern Indiana. Farm land values are rising with ever increasing scarcity. In a few years Indiana will have unique natural qualities that were privatized to hell in other states. The value of tourism in Indiana will rise significantly in a short period of time...when no one else has nature to enjoy.

Wait 7 years to build the upper portion?????

Is he nuts, it would be much better to borrow the money today at 4% interest and build it today rather than wait 7 years and let inflation inflate the cost of contruction by 3 times todays costs!

I69 is exactly that. It's being built so companies have
a "fast track" to outsource jobs, parts, etc. And let's
not forget the quantity of drugs that will flow thru
our state with I69. A lot of people don't think things
thru like they should, and are willing to follow the
government like sheep, and the government knows and
counts on it.

Funny how both Gov. O'Bannon & Kernan supported an I-69 extension, and yet Gov. Daniels is taking the blame for moving forward on the project.

The only way that I-69 can be built right now with the money we have is to go the I-70/US-41 route. To build the thing to Crane, and hope some pile of money will just magically appear in the meantime to allow the rest of the highway to be built is just pure stupidity.

The Governor needs to read up on his Indiana history because right now he seems deadset on repeating the Wabash/Erie disaster.

Watch him, folks! Just because HE abandoned the plan doesn't mean the legislators in his pocket have. This stupid ICC could still happen. Don't get blindsided by this little weasel.
