It's not hard to see why the Fortville Police Department is so messed up,they have no real leader in the depaartment. Someone on the board suggested asking the officers what they want in a new chief, isn't that just like asking a thief "how can I make it easier for you to steal from me?" Doesn't sound like they really care about the town or the real issues.

I agree. The police department has no direction. The department does need stronger leadership if they want things to change for the better. Sounds like they just want someone who will do what they want and not fix anything. Maybe you have to have a DUI and resisting law enforcement on your application to get the job.. The town needs someone who cares about the community and can actually do something to help fix the problems with the officers who think they can just do what they want.

Very true Anonymous, it's not hard to see that the problems with the department have been going on for quite awhile. The same complaints are made over and over and it seems they are just being ignored. You can see by the posts on this site that the same officers seem to be mentioned in the complaints. It's the community who suffers not the board or the police department.

Well the board has had a great candidate for Chief twice and decided against hiring him. I can't understand why they wouldn't want someone is highly qualified for the job and also had some great programs that would benefit schools and community as well as the police department. So Anonymous you are right they definately need do something to change the direction of their department.

Boycott all Fortville business until they clean house at the PD

the Fortville town counsel should be ashamed. Why hasn't the Feds been asked yet to investigate the reported corruption ?

Hey Fortville cops ... You may want to re think why your an officer of the law it's to serve and protect not bully and harass.

Boycott all fortville business let the business community puts some pressure on these reported thugs in uniform.

I hate for the business to suffer. The town board needs to be accountable. It is theirs to deal with. They are in charge of this town. Things never change here. Come on town board man up and hire some one good that does not have the thug thinking.

When are they going to hire a new chief. It takes toooo long to do anything here. They are still debating golf carts. They just don't get in a hurry. They next council will be in before they make a choice of who to hire. This group will be gone and they won't have to make a choice at all. Note I said the new council. If they can't vote on much in a timely manner they will be gone like the last bunch.

They take their time because they don't care about the town they were elected to serve. They keep the same officers who are creating the problems and nothing ever gets changed. The board has no clue about what it takes to run a police department. If you want leadership then hire a leader who wants things to run the right way and stop the bad image the department has.

Ok so why didn't they hire that guy for chief? This board should be ashamed of how they are doing things. They turn down someone who wants to do the right thing for what? Another guy who will just keep letting these fools do what they want...

Traveling north into Fortville from the the Fortville Pike you are actually going into a speed trap. The 45mph pike speed limit suddenly drops to 30. The revenue generating officers hide on Park Street or in the church parking lot and get people who didn't slam on their brakes to make the 30 mph trap. Now, if you happen to follow one of these officers onto the Pike, they routinely travel at 55 or 60 suddenly appearing on people's bumpers to see if they will react.

Really? A correction officer leading the police force? Shouldn't someone with experience or education be leading a police force? Who made that brilliant decision? Maybe the town council should be held accountable.
