Everyone that LIVES in Frankfort knows that Ron's Garage (Gattos) is the biggest rip-offs around. Many many people have been taken by his lies only to go to a reputable car repair shop and be told that we've been had.

The above is simply not true. You certainly are entitled to your opinion, of course.

I've known these people all my life. There is nothing they won't do for you. They will go out of their way to help you out. I've seen it personally. They don't cut corners, because it's not lawful, it's dangerous, to YOU, and for them (liability wise)

Car repairs are expensive, anywhere you go. Alot of people get upset, that's a given. It's tough to bring a car in, and get nailed for 2 or 300$. Nobody likes that news, and it's natural to think they are being "taken for a ride".

Keep your head. Don't shoot your mouth off. THINK before you bash a business, because you don't like repair bills. They cost, plain and simple.

Just talking from experience buddy and have several friends who have been victimized. Don't talk down to me like I'm some idiot that does not know that car repairs cost money. I don't mind paying if it's broken! But one thing they do is you go in there for an inspection and then they fix a "supposed" light that was out and then charge you even though you CLEARLY told them if there is any work to be done call ahead, but they don't. Then you are stuck paying because they already did the work. How about having a huge part replaced even though you asked them to call you first with an estimate and so you are stuck paying and then you ask for the broken part only to be told they threw it away. Talk to different people and sooner or later you will hear similar stories. It's always best to ask around before you choose any type of a business, but especially a car repair shop.

Now HOLD ON Francis....nobody is talking down to you. First things first. You bring a car in for an inspection, they are going to inspect it. If something is not right, it's going to get fixed. TO PASS INSPECTION. You think they're going to work for free? To give your car a once over, so you can take it somewhere else "for a better price"? You are living in fantasy land.

I know some car repair shops that will REMOVE THE STICKER once you bring it in. If you need the whole freaken engine replaced, GUESS WHAT Francis....You ain't drivin' that baby outta there.

You're lucky to have a shop "that actually tows" on Main St. in Frankfort.

And by the way...you just gave yourself your own best advice. Ask around. Then bring it in. If you made it to their shop, you must have done your homework, right? And nobody is calling you an idiot. Did you hear me say that?

You missed the point. I said they fixed a light that was supposedly broken but IT WASN'T! Obviously, if the light had been broken I would've WANTED it fixed but there were no broken lights. Just as my friend didn't have a broken light either but was told they did and it was quickly replaced.
And yeah, I didn't take my own dvice and askaround first and was bitten by them and that is why now I suggest people ask around. Trust me I learned my lesson.

Trust me on this one too....I hear your plight. I've been there, but not with this particular shop. But, is there a slight possibility, that MAYbe...the light was damaged? It's on a ....what....a $3.00 bulb? What's the point of going through the trouble for $3?

Yeah if it had been 3.00 but by the time the labor charge was added in it was like 40.00.
Even though I had heard negative things I brought it there because inspection was due that day and it was the only place in Frankfort. My fault for waiting to the last minute and not having time to take it further.

No your biggest mistake was thinking it was the only place in Frankfort. Crimmins' or G&S are both reputable and do inspections. Although, you might be right if it was last minute you might not have been able to get in.

I've never personally gone to Gatto's because I've heard so many horror stories I didn't think it was worth it.

You mean it is perfectly acceptable to inspect a car and then make repairs without contacting the owner for his permission? What planet do you live on?

C'mon, don't be a smartass. You know exactly what I mean. They will tell you what's wrong with it. If you bring a car in for inspection, I think it's safe to assume....barring replacing the engine, they're going to tell you what's wrong, and maybe replace a bulb or whatever. As for those taking the sticker right off as soon as you go in there so you CAN'T drive it out without risk, well that's another story.

But, you know what I mean.

i have also known them my whole life and they suck so you must be really close to them cuz they dont help people like i said before AAA is a service that we pay for and he is the one that shows up. its not about the bill i understand to repair a car it cost money but when u come out and u have more problems then when u go in he is only helping himself cuz it ends up costing us more money

Why do you keep missing the point???? Yeah, it would be no big deal to replace a bulb if they were fair with the price but charging me 40.00 for replacing a bulb because they added in labor to do it is crooked. You are most definitely a relative or a moron who is making a million justifications for them. And the other person was right-they most definitely do NOT help people out by towing. They get paid for towing!!!
