I was a huge supporter of Mr. Melton. I hope he enjoys while he is still there..I dont see him returning. You hit the community while they are down just like the rest of the government officials. You are not alone in this but your arrogance has spilled over to where it can not be ignored.

<quoted text>Look, he asked for 20% hoping for 10%, thats hoe the process works. And that is not to mention what a good job he has done. I feel for you if you are making less now than 5 years ago, but that is an issue for you to resolve. It has nothing to do with city or county services, and he has done an excellent job with a growing drug problem. METH LABS NOW.
I don't really understand the "what a good job he has done" part. Yes, he has done his job. He gets paid a big salary to do that job. It's the job he signed up for. Part of that job is to be a good steward of the tax payer's dollars. So if you want to say he is successful at collecting taxes, serving papers and patrolling the county, then fine. But don't forget that he failed miserably to do it within his means. The sheriff didn't just collect our taxes. He raised our taxes.

Wuld you like to show me any government entity that does not have to keep increasing their budgets? Costs go up for about everything and most gov entities give cost of living raises. What part of vehicles wear out and the new ones cost more do you not get. And as for the sheriff doing a good job, he has done far more than the previous sheriff did to get the drugs.

I hope that the fire department/union heads paid close attention to this. Yes we have more officers now but our pay is not compatible with city/ surrounding county departments and we also loose good people to other agencies. I can't wait to hear what the magistrates have to say about it when it happens. And believe me we know who voted for it. Fire Department/ALL County Employees need a raise.

An extra car allows for another car on the road should you need help, as does another full-time deputy. There are 2 deputies on duty and they have to cover the whole county, and that's if one doesn't call in. I understand about not making much and being taxed, but what if you need one of them to come to your aid? Wouldn't you rather them have the capabilities to make it to you, rather than not?

I am appalled at the current Franklin County leaders that gave Sheriff Melton a budget after he has proven that he squanders county taxes. I am curious how they will vote in the spring for the rest of the county employees raises. As taxpayers we did not need to pay for a Ford Expedition to fit Pat's ego and big fat ass, a $60,000 a year ass kisser to play on the computer all day, boats, Humvees and toys. At least Pat can hire more employees to compensate for the thieves that he could not control w. Some of his cronies say that he has done a good job, I say two words "he sucks". TWO MORE YEARS. Ted, you wanted him, do something with him.

"after he has proven that he squanders county taxes." In what way has he been proven to squander county taxes? The boat that KSP donated to the Sheriff's office? The Humvees that were donated by the US Army? Blanton is not paid anywhere near 60k a year. Sounds like you have an agenda and few facts to back it up.

Listen up folks, both Ted and Pat are “self licking lollipops”.

Both want as much tax money as the can lay their hands on the feed their personal agendas,“self promotion”.

A lot of people forget they are nothing more than self serving politicians.

It's not about serving the public, it's about serving themselves and their cronies that will keep them in office.

Of course they don't have facts to back it up. They would rather keep throwing words like "crony" and "taxpayer dollars" around, scrutinize donated equipment, and talk about the size of Sheriff Melton's behind. That deflects from actually having to have facts to use in a debate. Most of these people have NO clue what they are talking about. They are just using incendiary tactics to sway the argument in their favor.

Go do an open records request on the credit card expences, the ones that only Blanton is allowed to see.

OK Mr. Hackjob, let me see if I have got this straight.
You don't believe Mr. Blanton is a crony of Pats?

Dollar to a donut, pun intended, HiJaCkEd and Science says are Craig Franklin Blanton. This person posts on Topix all hours of the day, and is always staunchly supporting the Sheriff!

I have always said, I have no problem with the FCSO. I think they have done a fine job. They should continue to do so with what they have to work with. We have all been dealt a pretty poor economy, and I haven't had a raise in a few years either. Have any you noticed when you go to the gas station...the prices are up, when you hit the local Kroger/Walmart/Save-A-Lot, the prices have gone up...well, I think you know where this is going. Work within your budget! I have to, my neighbors have to...and so should the FCSO.

If you're so up to date on when I post, then you should have also read when I have repeatedly said I am NOT Craig Blanton, nor am I an employee or affiliated with the sheriff's office. Keep on digging, partner! I just think it's great fun to mess with you people!

Believe what you want, I don't care. I will sleep just the same tonight as I did last night, even though you think you're hurting my feelings. That's cute. If you're messing with me, it keeps you off of somebody else.

Do you think law enforcement lives in a magic bubble where their budgets aren't affected by these price hikes? The math is very simple, raise income or lower services. People complain they don't get services from law enforcement and in the same breath whine when law enforcement asks for the budget to provide those services. You can't have it both ways. If you don't want law enforcement to have the budget to provide services, then don't be surprised when it takes an hour for them to respond.

Little side note for you: Franklin County covers 212 square miles and there are usually 2 to 3 deputies to cover that per shift. Frankfort covers 14 square miles and Frankfort PD has 5 to 8 police officers per shift. Frankfort has a little over 2,000 residents more than the county.
