I have always thought the diner would eventually reopen under new ownership but not quite this soon. I think his 1950s design approach will appeal to many.

I wish Mr. Tillet great success.

I have been around Frankfort all of my life and Cliffside was a big part of it since i was a small child. I would like for it to re-open and get back to buisness as usual!!!

Good news and thanks for the post. As a child we would stop there for ice cream every Sunday on the way grandmother's house.

Remodeling the restaurant is a great idea. Nostalgia plays a big part of customer appeal. If the food is as good as it once was, it will be to the new owner's advantage! Keeping with tradition is the name of the game!

Cliffside has been a tradition for many people in Frankfort, even visitors learned they had the best open-faced roast beef dinner in the world.

We took our kids there for ice cream and milkshakes just like our parents took us. We are so glad it is re-opening.

That's great news to hear. Let's just hope that the good food and good service come back with the re-opening.

Damn can't even finish parkside but they can rebuild an old restaurant. I guess that's how funkyfort will always be.

The difference in this case is that Cliffside is privately owned by Randy Tillet. Parkside is a development by the city. That's the difference between opening in a few months to being an eye-sore for years.

I am glad to see Randy taking on this project. I liked to stop by for breakfast and lunch before they closed. The food was still good but the service went downhill.
The Parkside development is also a privately owned development, the city has no ownership. They have built many apartments in the back of the development but have not been able to reel in any other retial developments.

Thank you for the correction. See, what they say about assuming things is correct: When you assume you make an a** out of u and me.
