Have to way in on this one...just to shed some light on the subject, Football Junkie has it right...Although i'd go as far as to rate a top "3" Alltime over the last 40 years! Without a doubt Glenn Jones is number 1, sorry folks but none of the guys you speak of were as dynamic as he was! Giving his recent success and playing on the D1 level would qualify EJ Fields as number 2. Stephen Brown has to be mentioned because he was a force on both sides of the ball, outside of G. Jones no one was as dominant a presence as ole STU! Those are the top 3 hands down because they were the best players on the 3 best teams FHS has ever had. All those other than those 3 are of note but if you remove those 3 players from those teams and they are far less dominant as they would be without them...just a thought!
1. glen jones, 2. thomas barnett, 3. tommy johnson

EJ? he hasnt even "played" yet...so yeah

nah man; cameron wuznt the best 2 graduate from fhs..but he probably was the best CORNER/DB to graduate from FHS hands down. Cameron's hands were amazing and he could read coverage great. He averaged about 2INT caught a game for a while.
His offense wasnt the strongest and hell cam will tell you that himself but he knew when it wuz time 2 catch the ball or guard a defender he wuz shutting them down forget whoeva they wuz playing 1A,2A,3A,4A,5A dont matter Cameron was ready and wasnt scared of any1.
on another note, just my opinion i think that my cousin Thomas Barrnett is 1 of the best 2 graduate from FHS, his name isnt on the list, none of the great football players from FHS are..I just see a lot of players from 2001-2008...must have been somebody who graduated with some of these players.
-Glen Jones / Thomas Barrnett are some of the best two ever.
But anyways quit sayen my man cam is garbage and all that cuz he definitaly ant.........i think he could develop into a very strong CB/DB in D1...the talent is there, but i doubt he really wanted to play football anymore, as he said, and I quote:
"If we dont win state, im hanging the cleets up for good"-Cam J.
so leave him alone let the man live this thread is named "best football player to graduate from FHS" not "Does cameron jouett suck" so change subject quit talken out the side of yall'z neck.......
Coo I agree with you on that about the best DB part.

The best player at FHS? I can tell you now the best football player isn't just about offensive stats. If you want to talk about best players lets look at what they did on all aspects of the game.
Tilman & Robinson- wasn't a team player- never practiced hard didn't care about their team mates. THey quit the team once a year. Missed games because of grades. Asked Zo to call Bardstown they have his MVP trophy waiting.

Morgan was very close. He did a lot of things well. Good offensive and defensive guy. Understood the game well. Size hurt him landing a college offer.

Weaver - Sucks on defense

Wells - best player for his size. Great teamate, practiced hard, did what coaches asked.

Smith - didn't improve after his junior season. Should have been a D-1. A lot like wells good all around player.

Fields- has all the tools. Defense was a weakness.

Tommy Johnson - from what I have heard he was the best all around player to walk through the halls in the last 10 years.

i played a little football at fhs.i have been around football for 50 years..the best player in my opinion was a guy by the name of JOHN Redding...His last year of playing football at FHS he was the number 2 vote getter for all-state honors in the state of ky in 1971 football season.Bardstown beat us during the regular season(only game we lost durning reg. season that year).they also beat us in the playoffs but they went on to win the state championship that year.....

With all due respect to my All-State quarterback brother,,,,,,, Glenn Jones was in my opinion the best to wear the orange and blue. The '78 team lost to Bellvue ( i think) in the State Championship game. I was the ball boy. It was FREEZING cold. I think the score was 6-0. Glenn could have played D1 football but chose to play college baseball at Morehead. He was drafted into the Padres organization and i think made it all the way to triple A. He is sorely missed.

Let me honest, some of you folks dont have a clue.
Tilman, Robinson, juett are no where near the top of the list of best ball players from FHS. Let me rank some in the correct order.
1. Glen jones the best ever
2. Ricky Yett
3. James samples
4. Derrick Graham
5. Jeff wiard
6. Stephen brown
7. Ronnie Amburgey
8. Shane smith
9. Tommy current
10. Jamie Bennett

These are just a few of the great ones.

Well...Glenn Jones was among the best. But did you forget the great 70's era with Willie Washington, Chad Wiard, Willie Vandermeer, Calhoun, Yett and such? And the Bennett's, Jay Hackett and Alex Riggs. And the trip to cold Richmond to play in the state tourney? How about the 80's with the Smith brothers, Art and Troy and Chris Mitchell. Lot's of great athelete's. And let's not forget the best coach to ever coach in Frankfort, the great Raymond Webb.

Apparently some of you have forgotten what the title of this post is. Keri Metcalfs name should not be mentioned on this page anywhere. If we are speaking best football players to come out of FHS Alonzo Tillman, Antoine Robinson, Jordan Morgan, EJ Fields and Quan Weaver are the only people relevant (in more recent years). Reguardless of who is doing what now those boys had the most talent and made the most happen. Now if we're talking about the present EJ is the ONLY person doing anything and going anywhere. For those who missed the Blue/White game Brian Adams and Fields were the only 2 players with recieving touchdowns. Reguardless of what has been "projected" Fields will definitley be a key player in the wildcats offense this coming season. And Aaron Boyd will NEVER start a game...just saying.

yea ej is d1 and finally playing but he isnt the only panther still playing on saturdays. deshon floyd had 2 tackles last week for ksu and fumble recovery. that kid ended his freshman year at ksu with a 4.0 gpa as he did at fhs. he is is the kentucky highschool hall of fame as a scholar athelete. frankforts mayor even gave him a key to the city. his defense was the shit at fhs. offenses ran the other way all year long. check him out sat at home game . the kid plays and plays hard. my vote is for him. on and off the feild. but the best offensive player that ive seen run the ball at fhs is keith reed........

Just
FYI: Frankfort played in the state finals TWICE, not once - 1968 and 1977. Willie Stivers played in neither season.

They have made the playoffs seventeen times, beginning in 1966 and have played in the semi-finals at least six times.

The Bellevue loss was in '77 not '78 and the final score was 21-0. However, Mr. Bennett, your brother Tom is the only Frankfort player to score in a state final (1968).

Also, the 1971 team finished 9-1 but did not make the playoffs due to a loss to Paris. Trigg County was the state champion in 1971, not Bardstown. The Bardstown loss was 1970 - Bardstown beat Lynch in the state finals that year.

Clayton Powers, Eddie Tutt, Buddy Crutcher, Jay Cullen, Bill Martin, Don Rhody, Kermit Williams, Hal Chase, Ed Scott, Tommy Harp, Les Marshall, Donnie Harp, Ron Wigglesworth, Tommy Calhoun, Grant Satterly, David Laughlin, David Cheek, Mac Quarles, Thomas Clay, Tom Bennett, Gregg Riggs, Mike Amburgey, Willie Stivers, Tom Russell, Alex Riggs, Jay Hackett, Jamey Bennett, all should make the list.

I left a number of names off the list but, I have to agree with Mr. Bennett and others about Glenn Jones. Thomas Clay would be a very close second - at least in the past fifty years.
