I hope to see salaries for all county employees in next Sunday's paper! We need to be able to compare how all tax dollars are being spent.

I don't know how accurate the SJ report was.... Anyone else notice that they said the median income for a person with an associates degree was $33,250 and the median for a person with a bachelors was $33,150?
Either way.... must be nice. I have a state job (9+yrs), a bachelors & a masters and am DEFINATLY under those 2 incomes. So much for those who think state workers are over paid!
That's your fault for working for the state. Go private sector or start your own business. I did MANY years ago and never looked back.

However, if you are a half-ass employee who likes to play on the internet a lot and screw off at work, then you are where you need to be making what you deserve.

I think the SJ needs to not only put working people's pay in the paper, why don't they put in the paper everyone who is getting goverment assistance and how much. At least all of these city employees are going to work, paying taxes, so all the deadbeats can sit at home and not even work. Be thankful for all of these salaries so others can sit at home and get free money.

I know several who so called "WORK" for the City, and they brag about not doing anything, and getting paid. I work at a factory, and I gurantee you they would'nt make it a day here. You have to know someone to get on for the City, or state.

We the taxpayers are now aware of the money that the city of Frankfort squanders away on some city employees each year. Now the news paper should do the same with the Franklin County Government. How many people have Ted and Pat put on payroll since being elected. Ted, Pat, be part of the solution and not the problem.

I think if you are a city employee, and have a city owned vehicle, and Dont live in the City You should have to drive your own vehicle to work, then get your cruiser. And for all that cant afford your own vehicle, then you should pay for your gas, not the tax payers if FRANKLIN COUNTYシ

Officer Schneble parks his cruiser at the police department every day and drives his personal vehicle to and from oldham co. You have no idea what you are talking about.

The head honchos should live in Franklin county.
How many "official" vehicles do you see in walmarts parking lot? They drive cars home to another county while YOU pay for their gas

There is a phone number on every state car to report driving problems. Call it.

However, lest you forget, Frankfort is the epicenter of government. We have state agencies in almost every county in KY. Many times their travels are to Frankfort. When that is needed, they do drive state vehicles.

There is far less abuse than you might want to believe. Mainly because of cell phones and good old meddlers that call on every state vehicle on the road. I have a relative that worked in the area that takes those phone calls, they get dozens. Most end up being non-issues. They investigate most cases.

Sometimes you will get state employees who have to overnight travel to our lovely city. When they do they utilize our hotels, restaurants and God forbid, our Wal-Mart. But I guess you have never traveled anywhere and forgot some basic need that you would find at Wal-Mart.

Back when I worked for state government, I traveled a lot and it required frequent overnight stays. All governement employees don't leave work by 420 everyday. Just a lot of them.

I believe that Fatdaddy Melton is the only department head that allows his employees to live out of the county and allows these employees to drive their cars home at the county expense. Then again if he drives his county owned vehicle to Florida on vacation with his squeeze at the county expense he see no problem with this.

You do realize the deputies have no residency requirements correct? They do not have to live in the same county.

I do agree however, they should not be able to drive their cruisers home if they live outside Franklin County.

The article said they had to keep the salaries high so that state government wouldn't steal the employees. What a crock! State government hasn't had a raise in 4 years, so there's no need to spout those lies. And state government doesn't want them anyway. Sellus raised the occupational tax to give them more money. That should be lowered. Obviously city employees don't need more money, they already make too much.
