WLEX18 is running school closings now. FCPS is not on there yet. They usually drive the roads early and call off just before it's time for the busses to run. Can't tell you early so the kids can sleep in. What you doing up so early? We got furnance problems :>(

Our son went to Second Street (city) and Western Hills High School (county).
Hell has to freeze over before they let those kids miss a day. It was 22 here last night, wind chill 11 and those kids must have went today because I didn't see it on the list. I don't understand, if a bus wrecks that forces the kids off the bus, this wind chill could be deadly. I would think it would be the same for kids walking in this weather.
The few years he was at Second Street was good for his education but I would like to see the weather rules changed. Or is this what the kids/parents/teachers/etc. wont?
just wondering

Good shepherd went to. They don't have buses so parents have to drive. That's gotta suck.

Here's a pretty good example of how today's generation of kids are over-protected, making them wimps.

Unless they dress in shorts and flip-flops, no kid is going to die from hypothermia by walking to school in the morning. Give me a break.

I have to agree. Dress your kids properly. I have seen kids in T-shirt and shorts when it's around 40 outside. Little kids where most certainly parents still can put their foot down and teach them right.
