The sheriff’s department targeted another prescription pill drug ring Friday afternoon, arresting two men and charging them with engaging in organized crime.

Franklin County sheriff’s deputies arrested Floyd Quire, 49, of 816 Kentucky Ave., and Artis Quire, 43, of Lawrenceburg, while a third person, Elizabeth Cummins, 57, turned herself in to Frankfort Police.

Floyd Quire was arrested around 5:05 p.m. after four sheriff’s vehicles pulled in front of his residence. About 25 minutes later, Artis Quire was arrested on Coldstream Drive.

Three additional people – Jodi Ware, 38, of 8827 Owenton Road, Jessie Taylor Quire, 34, of 305 Thistlewood Drive, and Jeff Allen Carrier, 43, of 225 Cherry Lane – have arrest warrants posted.

The group was involved in a drug ring involving Jason Ware, 34, who was indicted Wednesday for trafficking charges. He has since been charged with engaging in organized crime.

The sheriff’s department has been investigating the ring for about a year, deputies say.

The group was allegedly taking trips to Florida to obtain prescription pain medication to bring back to Franklin County to sell.

This is the third large drug ring to be uncovered in Franklin County within recent months.

“They were making about $30,000 per month on these trips,” Chief Deputy Ron Wyatt said before the arrest warrants were served.

More arrests are expected within the next week related to the ongoing investigation.

Pick up Sunday’s edition of The State Journal for more details on the arrests.

I agree Kevin..but the question is...will they keep them off the street? How long will it be before they are right back out there doing it again. I totally support law enforcement, but the judicial system needs an overhaul.

The only way this is gonna get under control is for Florida to mandate a KASPER system. There is simply too much money to be made to control it any other way.

Honestly we need to get rid of Rick sparks, and both district judges..They are the reason all of this crime is going on and continues in Frankfort.(a slap on the wrist)just isnt justice. They turn them back out on us to commit more crime, and they collect money-court cost and fines wich keep them a healthy budget, but make us the victims of crime.VOTE THEM OUT! But pat is doing his job.

I wholeheartedly agree with you, court clerk! I have a personal example of how our system works in Franklin County. A 32 year old male was charged with attempted robbery, ultimately amended down and convicted of criminal mischief. He was given a year to pay restitution and a suspended sentence. He has failed to pay restitution. Keep in mind, he was already on probation in a nearby county,(charges of receiving stolen property.) At one point during this year, he failed to report for his jail sentence. He was in and out of our Franklin County Court System at least 5 times during that year for hearings and reviews, whatever the hell that means! This person has been in trouble at least yearly since he turned 18. It would probably be worse but I don't have access to his juvenile record. Finally, the Court recently sentenced him.(still no restitution)

Just think of the revenue this is generating for the County.(not that the above-mentioned person ever pays much of anything. And it keeps law enforcement busy going out and picking them back up again. No offense to the Sheriff's Department and FPD, they do what they can and are doing a great job! Just wish the Franklin County Prosecutor and Judges would get their heads out of their arses and get with the program. Sorry for such a long rant, but it really ticks me off!

Oh trust me, they know how we feel. Basically, nothing would probably happened in this case, if we hadn't been so vocal.

I have a solution to the drug problem and i really mean this. I say to anyone who has ever convicted of a drug crime bought-sold-or user, I would load each and every one of them up, and put them on a remote island away from society and let them fend for themselves. I HAVE A DREAM! I know a lot of people will bad mouth me saying this-but what else would you do.

I don't know that I would go that far. But it does make one wonder why all these addicts are so miserable and what it is they are trying to escape.
