I'm interested in this. I think it matters. Some say it doesn't. I thought it would be a good poll without giving 5 answers that all make the sheriff look bad.

It matters. All law enforcement should have morals. We should be able to trust that they will do the right thing.

Morals define a person, just like actions speak louder than words. When we are looking to choose an elected official we should examine all his attributes.Experience, morals,a ctions, and education.

What he does in his personal life has nothing to do with how he does his job and how he has been ridding this town of crack head drug dealers. I think you should know the whole story before you pass judgement upon a man or anybody as a matter of fact. It could be that some things have happened in his life you know nothing about so you worry about your personal life and do your job,if you have one and let Pat worry about his personal life and let him do his job one that he has been doing a very good job at doing

I really don't have a personal interest in the Melton debate but didn't the CIA director just resign after he was caught having an affair?
For those who keep saying that the sheriff's personal life should not be an issue, you are wrong.
He is an elected official and Frankfort is still a small town. Making headlines by busting a few small time druggies who then get let out of jail or put on probation soon thereafter does not give Melton a get out of jail free card with the moral majority in Frankfort.
Just sayin', Craig, so get over it. You are not going to win anyone over on the affair issue.

Define what you mean by morals. If you mean follow some christian cults rules the answer is no. If you mean be honest the answer is yes

It is a shame that so many men in public office end up cheating on their wives and then getting caught so the poor wife not only has to find out she has been betrayed but then gets the double whammy of public humiliation. I don't care about the politics as much as the people. I hate to see someone treat a spouse badly and then act like they didn't do anything wrong. If the roles were reversed, these types of political men would be crying and weeping to anyone who would listen and calling the woman every kind of heartless ho'.

Is Pat divorced today, was he divorced when he found his new girlfriend or girlfriends? I agree many divorced men find new girlfriends and wives, but most wait until they are divorced to start. Sounds like a lack of morals.

You can put me in the box that doesn't care what goes on in the guy's personal life. It's not my business. But to say that it's just a typical marriage, 50% end in divorce etc. is really not what this is about. The sheriff campaigned as a Christian family man so people would elect him. It was all a rouse. He had planned all along to break up with his wife as soon as the campaign was over so he could be with the young girl. Even as someone who doesn't care about people's business, that is just awful. He kept his wife and kids around just long enough to get elected, then he got rid of them so he could be a single guy with a title. He won by about a hundred votes. If he lost, would he still be with his wife so he could run again in four years? I think this is one of the worst stories I've ever heard of. He didn't just cheat. But he kept his family around so he could win an election. How awful of a person would you have to be to do that?
All that being said, it won't change my vote. His spending way too much taxpayer money is why I wouldn't vote for him again. Do your job, screw who you want, but don't screw those of us who pay the taxes.

Sounds to me like you have more of a problem with Christians than with our Sheriff. Find another post that more nearly fits your agenda.

This community has elected a guy whom will screw the next mans wife and leave his family whom has been there and supported him. The guy lacks morrals. How can we trust a guy like that. Could you trust him with your wife? Makes you wonder. I don't like him personally because he thinks him being sherriff puts him above all. He isn't to be worshipped. In some countries he would be beheaded. He breaks moral laws too bad this country doesn't take u to court for that. Please consider voting for somebody else at the next election. This guy is phonie.

What I have a problem with is the mans private life has nothing to do with his job. He got a divorce, that is not like he is selling drugs or stealing now is it?
The reason I brought up the christian cult is some people want to push what they think is right and wrong on to every one, I was pointing out their behavior and hoping to shame them.
