All the "green" hipsters will drive there in their cars, using fossil fuels, adding to their carbon footprint to go enjoy a night of consumerism! Three dollar cups of coffee in little wax lined paper cups that can't be recycled and five dollar beers or drinks in plastic cups all night. Please be aware of your consumption and it's impact on the planet and be responsible - walk, bike, or take a cab.

Here is a little something to consider no matter what your political/religous inclinations: These guys are really good musicians and a credit to Frankfort's great music scene. Local musicians need all the support they can get. Its fun to hate, but more fun to relate. Love you all.

Wow...I do have to say that this forum is mostly bullshit, but I do scan through it about once a month. Sometimes, I do find something worth reading.

Many of the posts above are based upon assumption and arrogance, and that kind of thinking is exactly what keeps a town like Frankfort from thriving.

The Coffeetree, along with a few other downtown places, is the driving force behind any kind of real culture and economic growth in downtown Frankfort. Anyone that keeps up with what the owners and establishment have done for the community, even if not in agreeance, should be respectful of the care put into it.

I am an internationally touring musician, and I have seen pretty much every type of town, city, restaurant, shop, venue, etc. There is something special about Frankfort, and if more people would open up their minds to the forward possibilities of this town, and not just assume things based upon rumor or fear, then we would all benefit from it...wealthy, poor, liberal, conservative...etc...etc. I have seen it happen in other places.

That is my 2 cents... Thank you for posting about our show.

Coffeetree the driving force behind economic growth in Frankfort? You're gonna have to flesh that one out a bit, Jordan. Enjoy your music, btw.

I can't speak for Jordan, but I think he meant businesses "like" Coffeetree. While I agree with Jordan's statement in theory, and truthfully in the right environment, it can work wonderfully...but in Frankfort it is not very practical. There is a growth choking monopoly downtown, anyone working or dealing with the private shops down there can tell you. Peace, love and happy thoughts are wonderful, but the dollar bill always runs the show. Greed and growth stifling attitude is in no short supply in downtown Frankfort, no matter how much they try to convince us of the contrary. Until this city loosens it's necktie a bit and the elite downtown "club" lets in newcomers, we will keep the same stale vibe forever....

^^ Once more, in English?

Who is in the "growth choking monopoly"?
How is "greed" "stifling growth"? Don't greedy people want businesses to grow?
What club is it that "newcomers" want to be let into?

Can't anyone purchase a vacant building, or lease one, and start their own business? Without some explanation, that's a bunch of vague nothing-speak above.

I feel bad for changing the original topic of this post. My original reply was simply for the inconsiderate comments that came before it. It just really irks me to see people in this town talk slander and make assumptions about a place that they clearly don't really know anything about, especially when the original post was just about some music. My point is that this kind of thinking is just not constructive for this town...or for anybody.

Unfortunately, there are people in Frankfort that do not want to see the local economy grow. Crazy, huh?

To "Whoa"....I should've explained myself more thoroughly. Those businesses that I spoke of are the driving force behind a healthy local economy and culture (which I believe is key to this type of economy)...if people support them. If you do, then more money stays in the community, which leads to expansion on a local level. If you support a competing chain from out of town, much less of the money that you spend stays in our community. Now...I'm not saying I'm against chains...many are good, and most started as a local business, but the key is to not take it so far as to affect what gives a community it's value. It's not always easy to juggle, and It takes good urban planning, but I've seen it happen, and in my experience, it does make a city much more identifiable and enjoyable to visit or live in.

There are far better people to discuss this matter of development and economics with than I. There are also far better places for all of us to speak our opinions, if we want any kind of result. I've said more than I probably need to say on this forum topic, so with that, good day...

Have you ever attempted to open, a business downtown? Have you ever been told by franklin county health inspectors, and I quote "Oh, those people down there won't let you start up a food business, competition is to high they are not willing to let anyone in easy." Yeah...the county health inspector. My reply to him was that as long as I complied with state and local laws that there was nothing they could do...right? Wrong, he continued to tell me that the business owners down there would harrass and report us untill we closed or were found in violation. If that is not growth preventing monopoly...I have never seen it. The "club" I refer to is the downtown committee that is comprised of business owners and investors in them. They decide "much like a home owners association" who can and can not open a business in the downtown district. And yes, they want to "make" money not share it! Any new business that will draw customers away from their stores is a serious threat to the already weak economy in downtown. You are either misinformed, involved with the downtown committee, or a troll lol!

What you're saying doesn't make sense. You're saying you were found in violation of health codes, but you were actually not in violation of health codes? Or you're saying you're upset that someone reported accurate violations of health codes?

Actually, it was a simple request for more than just vague accusations. You are one hasty conclusion-jumper, which doesn't lend a lot of credence to your allegations.

I Was in conversation with a health inspector that stated those things when I attempted to get a permit last summer. Either way great music guys love what u do!!
