Does anyone else have major problems with the Y's scheduling, lack of interest in kids' programs, whateer? Still waiting on soccer schedules and info. expensive programs that don't do the job! Tired of that really rude old man at the front desk, too.

Heres what you can do. Either move somewhere that doesn't suck, or take your kids to versailles for these activities.

Stop patronizing the YMCA sports program and maybe they will get rid of the idiots that run it. Have you tried Upward? Not many choices here for our kids.

Or take your kids to UPWARD to do sports, we had to we NEVER got our schedule until way up in the season, one time we got a coach for oour son's soccer team after the first game had been played (and that team of course didn't play), Melissa Bondurant we left her message after message and she never returned our calls, if we were somehow lucky enough to get her by chance she would just say they were working on it.

We were members for a long time, never could use the pool when we wanted to it was always closed for maintainence, the daycare was HORRIBLE, the whole thing needs shut down in my opinion.

UPWARD is better organized, we have switched. It's a little more expensive, like ten dollars more, but worth it.

It's their management. I have had a problem with them when they took over.

Only thing you can do to change it is for their membership numbers to drop.

I think the problem is Brent (supervisor). He is an ego maniac and doesn't really care about anyone but his self promotion. The Y doesn't need this kind of person in charge.

They run off the nice people who work the front desk. I have heard some terrible stories of how Brent talks to them. He needs to go!!!!! Everyone should contact the board members and complain on him. Brent just got promoted too. Isn't that the way things work! lol

I may be canceling my membership soon after 20 years there!

We've participated in Upward and the Y. The Y is by far better in terms of level of play and quality. We received the game schedule for the first 2 weekends this season at least 4 or 5 days before you posted this. Your coach didn't do a good job of getting it to you, but it you look on the Y's website, you will find the schedules and basic info there. It is my understanding the full game schedule will be out this weekend. The Y works as quickly as they can considering the number of teams and kids that participate and are considerate to coaches who have kids in different levels or activities. If you don't volunteer to coach, you can't complain. It takes time to find coaches, and I've never heard of any teams missing out on any games due to missing a coach when the season started (only missing first practice or so). Melissa has always been extremely helpful and goes above and beyond to make things better. I catch her the best through email because she is out of the office a lot taking care of programs. True, I think some staff need to be removed and changed. Give it some time. It has come a long way since we've been involved, and they are making lots of changes to the programs. If you contact Melissa or another director rather than ranting on Topix, you may get farther and not feel as frustrated!

The main YMCA office, the one that oversees ALL of them. The YMCA is a national organization, and they have yet to respond to this matter either.

i have been frustrated with the YMCA with their sports programs. They are unorganized however i think a lot lies with the coaches that volunter to help. i have had great coaches and other coaches that shouldn't have even showed up.It seems this town is politicians or white trash. It's the crooks vs the crooks in a nut shell.

I have been a member there for several years, usually go there after work a couple times a week. Brent has always been very professional and pleasant when I've seen him. Perhaps what you've "heard" isn't the most reliable source of information. I haven't worked with Melisssa, but she seems to be very nice as well. People need to get the facts before posting!

I know this is a couple of yrs late, but I have to agree. Mr. Wallace right? I moved here from Cincinnati and enrolled my son in their daycare program and it was a complete nightmare. My son was coming home with stories of being bullied and unfortunately as I all too soon found out, they weren't stories. I picked him up one day and he had blood all down his leg from a cut and the blood was dry. They didn't offer him to the bathroom to clean it up or even give him a bandaide. Then some older boys talked him into pulling his pants down at the pool. A younger boy approached me and mugged my son in the head in front of me and one of the teachers and they did absolutely nothing. I had to tell them don't you think it's dangerous for a child to approach an adult he doesn't know? He approached me three times before They put a stop to it. He was hitting my son and my son wouldn't hit him back because he was smaller than my son. I kept complaining to Brent about the issue and finally had to approach this young man's father to put a stop to it. The funny thing is that they are both are in the same after school program now and play together all the time now and haven't had a problem at all with one another, which blantantly states to me that it wasn't the boys fault, or the parents, because the father apologized, but the lack of adult supervision by the faculty in charge of the childcare program at the YMCA. Things did get better for a while with Ms. Katrina, but then again she did her job. Billy too. But then they stopped working there and it started back up with an older boy threatening to drown my son and several other kids in the pool. I had to send my son to Cincinnati to my mother and my sister for the summer because in all honesty I was too afraid to send him back there. The stories he told my mother and my other family members regarding the Y were so awful that she actually threatened to not let him back here if I couldn't find other daycare, which is almost impossible here. In fact I've lived in several other places and have never seen the lack of daycare options or programs for kids that is here. And I have lived in more rural places than this. But I just wanted you to know I got the exact same vibe from him. And if their other children's programs operate the way their daycare does, it's no wonder the people are having the issues that they are having. I want to thank you for your post.
